With the amount of ugly ghettos being built these days to house the masses they better come up with something better than Dino power😂
-
complexity, weight and cost are the driving factors. Anti/de-ice is mainly for the high end machines where bleed air and or EP work best. in 42 years of driving planes I’ve only ever seen/had nasty ice enuf to make an operational change

CASA Consultation Paper (760 kg) Published.
Flightrite replied to walrus's topic in Governing Bodies
The cruising levels are not mandatory, WX could see you unable to comply with the lunatics in charge rules! I use common sense and that’s not part of CASA’s makeup! -

The grubby media make sure the word pilot is mentioned, it gets more attention, sells more newspapers, that’s their game, fear and hysteria are No1 when it comes to journo’s, just look at the last near two years of Covid BS we’ve had to put up with? -

Some people’s idea of ‘art’ is tragic!😂 -
It’s a good job Rita’s donks are very robust otherwise where would be smoking holes everywhere if we believe the copious qty’s of wives tales here!😂😂

Flightrite replied to red750's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Now you know where so called educated journo’s get their info from when it comes to aircraft, every light plane is a SE Cessna😉 -
That’s blasphemy!😉

Everyone has got this in their email this arvo as well as a CAsA briefing that are RA/CAsA affiliated. things are changing....slooooowly! -
You’re right the Corby Starlet is an amazing plane, will go to VNE using the Jab80 in Lvl flight if you are not careful👍
-
The whole philosophy of the AUF was to keep it simple hence affordable flying but like most thinks in life you plant a seed then it grows into a big tree!👍

A friend of mine has one of those trike thingies with a 80 HP Rotax donk (which I think is the common HP)? & he runs it it at a much higher power setting using around 15 lph, (that’s what he plans) at 60 kts, seems happy at higher revs, prop /wing combo must have a lot to do with it. on a side note bend in one once many years ago, felt really strange, not for me😉

“to save some money” there’s the biggest flashing red light right there when it comes to aviation!
-
So someone buys/operates a new type of powerplant (to them) and they have no idea about basic engine checks? That’s poor airmanship right from the get go! Too many poorly trained and ill equipped drivers out there as it is! There's so much info avail today on every plane/engine that not knowing the basics is just lazy!

.....”you’re going in with the wheels down? I’d give anything not but we’d never get up again if we don’t”😀 -
How I would have handled it…
Flightrite replied to APenNameAndThatA's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
The idea of any emerg Ldg is to get out in one piece, the Ins Co owns the plane now! -
There’s so many of these donks out there these days that this sort of knowledge should be common?
