  1. CASA are heading towards making private and leisure flying of VH light planes transferring to RA, hence the recent weight increase which will flow onto 1500kg’s, covering most of the GA SE fleet! CASA see GA as a nuisance and would love to clear the skies of lighty’s!
  2. They are planning on killing off GA ( been happening g for ages!) so there’s no hurry to add a number to future allocations (which I hear they are considering, like automobile rego’s)!
  3. If you guys wanna read a short story about brakes etc re the Challenger 601 incident middle last year at YMEN that was a total stuff up search the ATSB website.
  4. There’s a zillion of these Jab thingy’s driving around, the brake setup, though primitive must work otherwise these pages would be full of accidents like this fool had! Fix the real problem, pilot training and checking, the later severely lacking!
  5. If only mankind could cohabitate instead of trying to blow each other up in bulk numbers! I hope the Chinks get it first!
  6. 9,999 times out of a 1000? And this guy’s a pilot?….😉😂😂Try talking to Auckland or Nandi Radio (HF) whilst out over the Pacific in the middle of the night in TS’s….nightmare stuff!
  7. And to think some instructor signed him off? Now that’s a worry! The amount of plane drivers out there who can’t fly to save themselves is astonishing!
  8. How do you blokes sleep at night worrying about all that crap?😉😉😉😂😂🙁
  9. I hope your Ins Co doesn’t find out you shut down the engine! That’s not a clever thing to do!
  10. I operate my Jab donks at full noise for no more than 20-30 secs, only on T/off, 2800 rpm max at any other time, I expect they’ll outlast me😂
  11. I bought my RA flying machines for simplicity. They are cheap to run and maintain with parts avail in a milk bar! I like to be able to fix it by the side of the road with fencing wire if need be👍KISS method, fancy gizmo’s buys a lot of fuel👍
  12. Here’s some ideas👍
  13. It’s the odd ball engines that usually let down these airframes. There’s something to be said for sticking to types that bring easy/good resale value. Ive seen a few Vans A/C fitted with complex heavy exotic donks that sell well under their normal sale value when fitted with proper donks! Each to there own!

  15. Looks too complex, like all these weasly ideas they are more a curiosity by some who ‘think’ they can knock off the big players, amusing though using fancy computer graphics and painful music😂
  16. 30 mins res is not much gas for a lot of planes! Remember that the 30 mins had to actually be useable too, quite a few machines out there have high un-useable amounts. It’s seat sweating stuff to be watching the FMS and trying to ‘make’ fuel whilst en Route, light A/C fuel Qty can be an educated guess at the best of times!
  17. Fiddling with tank to engine selector/s just prior to take off is foolish at best! A few machines I’ve flown over many years had aux tanks that needed to be drained/pumped into the mains if you wanted to access the entire fuel supply, on a long over water flight that was done as soon as the space became available. Short of a catastrophic mech failure engine stoppages are mostly due fuel starvation, often driver induced! The one thing I’m anal about is fuel ,
  18. I’ve deliberately left the fuel tap off in one of my Jab donk powered machines to see how long it would run for. Doing a proper run up & warm up would see the engine quit well before being flight ready.
  19. Boring WX up there today😉 my planes languish in the hanger on a nice say whilst I have to ‘work’😂
  20. Boeing, manufacturer of dinosaurs, Airbus, the way of the future😂 Both 1987 models.
  21. Girls and aviation don’t mix😉😉😂Pick one and stick to it😂
  22. Now this is a panel! A real man’s panel!😂 The one thing that I find in a lot of homebuilts etc is that a lot of panels are a dogs breakfast! An ergonomic mess!
  23. I would never own plastic fantastic! Old school metal for me, I sleep like a baby too😂
  24. “Parker Pen” hours used to be common! The ‘true’ measure of hours should show up on a flight test, they are just numbers at the end of the day. I could add up all my hours in my several log books and come up with a different answer every time probably! Mistakes get made over many years of adding. Once upon a time I used to love doing log book entries, we paid enough for them, now it’s a chore!🙁 To stay reasonably on top of the game means keeping yr head in the books year round & driving a plane regularly👍
