Dual Inspection for a folding wing aircraft
BrendAn replied to old man emu's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Lots of raaus aircraft have folding wings. I doubt they get an inspection each time they come out of the hangar or trailer -
So if someone has an accident how will anyone know if the aircraft has any non approved parts or mods. Raaus made it clear they will Not investigate accidents any more and casa won't do it because it's raaus responsibility.

sorry. with ford and gm i was thinking about all engines car and truck. how many chev and ford v8's have been sold over the years let alone all the 4 and 6 cylinders
-
i think your forgetting ford, general motors and a lots of others , the detroit diesel was far better than cummins in the early days and imagine how many 671's must have been produced for the war effort. cat and cummins didn't catch up to detroit until the mid seventies in trucks.

it happens all the time in a lot of industries but occasionally there is success. like sarichs fuel injection for the orbital engine , the motor went no where but mercury bought the rights for the fuel system and used it on their optimax outboards . on the sarich thing, i followed a ford laser along stirling highway once which had powered by sarich orbital on it. i think he had a few running around perth for testing.

did i read one of your posts that said merlins had a 200 hr tbo. although that would be a long long time in ww2.

i am pretty sure these companies do research. i would say the small version they say is going to market this year is aimed at drones. looks about the right size and seems to be a lot of manufacturers after the military contracts.

so you want to shut down all metropolitan flying schools in australia because they do this thousands of times a week with piston engines as you know. usually the ones that fall out of the sky manage to find somewhere to land/crash without hurting anyone else.
-
it will be interesting to see if that 22hp swashplate motor does hit the market . the junkers was quite an advanced engine for its time when you consider the merlin was the best the allies could come up with.
-
commer knockers worked fine towing heavy loads
-
his fuel injection was good though.
-
what do you base this on. have you experimented with a swashplate engine.
-
gardner diesels made 51 percent years ago. pretty sure i read that .
-
this swashplate engine may actually get somewhere. supposed to have the 22hp version on the market this year. roller bearings running on a swashplate should be low friction and long wearing if it gets good lubrication.

certainly is

i know someone with a brs in a tecnam that is years out of date due to the cost of servicing or replacement. he keeps it there in case he needs it one day. 2 questions. 1. will it even work . 2. do rocket fuels become unstable with age like some types of ammunition.

mine was 25 rego. they were only factory built . no kits were produced so no 19 reg as far as i know.
