  1. Ev17 - you’ve misinterprated what I said. I believe it would be beneficial to members to know who key personnel are and their career movements. And as far as RAA representation is concerned the current representation (read Chairman and CEO) bear no resemblance to the kind of representation (read adocates) we had for the original ideals of AUF. They are hell bent on creating a monster.
  2. Having a Ltd Liability Company structure plays right in the hands of this kind of behaviour. Even since before the constitutional changes, this kind of leadership was in evidence with M and M at the helm. Making statements about “all the membership want to do is fly” - pretty much signalled they were going to do what they like without recourse from the membership (and has proved correct). I think the fact that they stole another organisation’s “mantra”- signals to me that they want administer all recreational flying in the future. (This is not in RAA memberships best interest IMHO). The olive branch of saying that other organisations can still use the phrase “Freedom to fly” is just contemptuous after the fact (and by the way is contrary to RAA’s actions in the recent past given maintenance restrictions etc). All recreational organisations have reason not to trust RAA - given what has transpired since Airventure at Narromine 2017. More than once bush fires started by Lincke have had to be extinguished by others - (beginning with uninformed statements to the media about Jabiru following an incident in Queensland). The silence over Darren Barnfield leaving is just another example of keeping the membership in the dark as they work under the assumption that we don’t need to know.
  3. You have my vote, for too long the current management style has been allowed to radically change the RAA landscape without any recourse or moderation. Can I give you my proxy?.
  4. He’s given a brief to achieve certain aims but chooses how to go about it himself.
  5. This comes as no surprise to me - Michael Linke is an attack dog!!, just look at the way he has presided over the move to make RAA a limited liability Company, doing away with area reps, reducing the board numbers, removing experienced aviators and people with historical knowledge of the workings of RAA from the board and replacing them with academics that we have little or no knowledge of - largely from the GA world - who can see no other way than to make RAA into GA mk2 eventually welcoming 1500kg aircraft onto the register - all at the expense of by the current membership with never ending price increases for services provided to pay for this blatent takeover of all recreational aircraft. All this with no meaningful consultation with the membership. The reason for creating the original AUF has been completely erased. If I were on the board of any other recreational flying body I would be very wary of having anything to do with the RAA executive.
  6. Come on Kyle - spill the beans, no one else is watching (just between us). Who is doing what to whom?.
  7. Are we going to get a new CEO Kyle?.
  8. My instructor had told me when I did my training you could add 10 hours for every decade you had lived to achieve your certificate. The older you get the harder it is to achieve the required standard.
  9. I don’t think he is the only one of them with an eye on that prize. Actions speak louder than words. Has he joined the “Sport Aviation” section along with our former CEO and Tech manager.
  10. Another really well told story Peter, you clearly have a talent with the written word. The Lake Eyre trip is one I look forward to myself one day. It’s almost like a right of passage for pilots. Everyone needs to do it.
  11. None of the candidates mentioned reining in spiralling costs of membership or registrations or for that matter anything else. All seem happy to follow along the companies line of relying on price increases to pay for ever increasing empire building. Its very hard to make informed decisions about who to vote for because all of these people are like faceless men. Who knows any of the candidates well enough to confidently vote for them. We will probably never meet any of them nor have any interactions with them. The only person I’ve spoken to or know anything about is Victorian Rod Birrell. People are concerned that increased compliance means greater cost to members and less rights and freedoms, the ideals that spawned the Ultralight movement have been morfed into GA mk 2 by stealth with “compliance” being the new byword. We need a board that advocates for members rights and privileges not one that takes rights away and imposes restrictions. The current board are only advocating changes that suit their end game.(empire building) The results of the member surveys have never been published to my knowledge so how do we know if the board are complying with the members wishes or are just being directed to follow a CASA wish list (or even get a say). I really don’t know who will get my vote at this stage.
  12. Welcome Clint, whereabouts is your strip. We’re always looking for somewhere to fly into. There’s lots to see and learn from in the forums here. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Happy flying.
  13. Can’t wait to see how this all develops, good luck with it jab7252. Could end up with a very useful nav aid.
  14. CASA and RAA are strangling the life out of recreational aviation in australia with over regulation for pilots and unnecssary pursecution of certain aircraft manufacturers while they smile and tell how wonderful they are.
  15. Since when did an RAA aircraft require a maintenance release?
  16. Fisher Flying Products have a biplane called a “Celebrity”. An aquantence (Derik Dyer) built a beautiful example powered by a Rotec radial, he used to take it to a lot of fly-in’s. Prior to the Celebrity he had a Fisher 3/4 Tiger Moth with a 2200 Jabiru motor. He is an accomplished builder an was helping others with their Fisher planes. He also published at least one article in the RAA mag. Google Fisher Flying Products for pics of their kits as a starting point. Cheers.
  17. The link didn’t have any dates as far as I could see.
  18. More details required - like the dates, who’s hosting it, is it going to be informal or like the last few with all the BS that goes with having RAA pulling the strings.
  19. What a ripper of an idea!! And to back it up with your own cash is really ballsy - good luck, I hope you get heaps of new members out of it. Well done guys and girls of Mt Gambier Aero Club.
  20. Only 3344 need to do anything - the other 6656 or so hire aircraft to fly or are inactive. 700 have taken up L1 qualification and there is 300 L2’s -That would mean that 2344 owners either use L2’s or do it themselves as they were able to do prior to the introduction of the necessity to pass an exam. It doesn’t take much imagination to work out what a large section of those 2344 may be doing. The best solution would have been to allow those holding an L1 authority to keep it (as they were already successfully maintaining their aircraft.) and only require new owners to obtain the qualification through the exam. Just dumb on the two Mikes part to make people jump through hoops unnessessarily.
  21. Coljones you must be blind if you haven't noticed an increase in the cost of registration fees, certificate fees, BFR's, maintenance requirements (eg Jabirus), and the Magazine to name a few. With the quoted increase in membership fees should be coming down not always spiralling up.
  22. Interesting to note that existing members weren’t mentioned only flight schools, hirers and maintainers. I wonder what percentage of our members actually support the two Mikes position on weight increases or amove to GA Mk. 2. All I can see is financial grief ahead for current RAA aircraft owners and flyers. Very disappointed in this take over of all recreational aircraft approach.
  23. Completed this survey today, I hope they publish the results. I did the last one and have never seen any comment or results of same.
