  1. I fitted the Stolspeed ones a few years ago. Made the aeroplane more controllable at slow speeds, plus lowered the stall speed somewhat.
  2. Anybody know what brought the Jabiru down......(other than gravity of course)
  3. I agree completely, but bring the price down to Jabiru levels and they will fly out the door:roflmao:
  4. They will be put up for sale . Those owners that can, or are willing, to take a real hit will sell them. But don't expect ( as some people infer) a giveaway price . They are ALWAYS Cessna's with a Continental 0-200 ..New cost $140k? Now? I guess $90k?.... The ones that can't sell will hang on to them fly them and avoid 20knts breezes!
  5. I hope it dries out in time for my holiday in May?
  6. Jesus you blokes. Get over Narromine .The Natfly WILL NOT BE AT NARROMINE not this year nor the next....But .I will attend wherever it is weather permitting. I do like the idea of the Saturday/Sunday event. Leaving Friday and Monday for travel. But if it can't happen then I wont go on and on about it....I don't think its an event for little kids. I do think it's an event to listen to experts, Talk to enthusiasts and generally take away more than you bring......
  7. looks to me that the GR has had a thourough beating with an ugly stick !
  8. around eighty bucks a week at Tooraddin if there are any spaces...Lilydale too was about the same
  9. I'm sorry Bruce. Excuse my ignorance. But, I don't see how your drawing of the trim works in conjunction with the elevator/joystick/ up-down action?
  10. I've had my Allen servo for 7 years now, I got the up/down rocker and the positional led with it... works fine. Althought I like that manual red thing in the previous post. But then you have to have a push/ pull cable which spells disaster if I jams ( just like my original one..) .OK if you can get access...are you going to move the whole elevator asd a trim opr put a tab on the trailing edge.?... ( much simpler ) ......

    Spark Plugs

what a bunch of wankers! What the hell has it got to do with Repco what you use the plugs for. If someone asks just say they are for a getaway car, that'll make it ok....I was once trying to buy a actuator in the US I happened to mention aeroplanes and they shut right up.. Untill I told them the actuator was to remotely open the mailbox, then it was ok....If I buy something it's up to me what use I put it to once I leave the shop....... The sellers should just pull their nosy heads in....
  12. it's not geared low enough!.No finesse of operation..why not get one of those electric servos ( R.C. Allen) and plant it in the tailplane..( I did) ...otherwise look for a geared right angled drive.(turn the handle and you get a push pull motion) ..an italian company used to make one. Ingegno I believe....They also make great wheels.........
  13. I had a motorcycle shop for many years so it would be easier to list bikes that I have not had or ridden.....Still got a K1100 ( very custom) and a kwaker Drifter 1500
  14. so do I ! really help with remembering what your feet are for.
  15. So, there I was reading through the new mag and I come across an article from our Tech. Manager (Acting) and read about yet another piece of silliness. It seems that , along with stickers telling the builder/owner how much his aircraft weighs and that he must not smoke that (who would ever know or care I ask?) we have to comply with a noise requirement ? The requirement was always there , sort of. CASA looks more and more like a bureaucratic version of King Solomons Mines, paper gems are being uncovered as we speak. Of course, as you might expect, as soon as you have this Noise Assesment doc. you get an automatic Noise Exemption Certificate. I kid you not. So being anxious to please and comply. I go to the website mentioned in the article. There , I find that the in-fillable page does not cover anything that I can fill in? Nor any R.A.A. aircraft really that is not brand new....There is just no class in the first list that covers me. My aircraft, being ex G.A., Must have had a noise assesment cert to have been registered in the first place. I wonder where it is? Dear Pandora what did we do when we opened your box?
  16. The FIRST thing I would check would be the temp guage!
  17. well, let's have a much smaller head on the top with one valve (inlet) and one on the bottom (ex). more expensive but I do like symmetry
  18. Err? stagger the firings? " an opposed piston engine has ONE combustion chamber per two pistons. What is there to stagger?
  19. thanks everyone. I'll get the avmaps app. and not worry about taking the wifi with me.
  20. I just got a new iphone 5s..... and I'm dumping the house phone. To get broadband (20 gig) I have to have a cute little portable wifi device. Is it feasable to use the maps feature of the ifone and the wifi thingy together as a back up GPS?
  21. Look how narrow that bugger is! It would suit skinny tandem seated aircraft so well ( or single seaters). A well designed aircraft would not have to be any wider than two feet!
  22. I would be talking to somebody else! $2-3K is a LOT of hours............. who takes 20-30 hours @ $100 p.h. to re and re. a motor?. I would Guess. 3 hours out and 6 back plus replace parts and hoses. @60p.h. for an L2.... 2 days would be an enormous time frame to do that job.
  23. But Jabiru DO sell Sensenich props and they are certified.
  24. Arrived today, Thanks a bunch.....
  25. Sorry , My mistake, I thought the helis were separate
