  2. Hey All Thought I'd share my excitement with you all! Last Sunday I headed out to The Oaks an met with some friendly bunch of people at SRFC. After 5 years and since obtaining my restricted licence I haven't flown. but last sunday was different. Hopefully the plan is get my "pilot Certificate" I'm flying a foxbat.

  4. Welcome Ben. Congrats to you and your mate. I personally did my ab-initio training with curtis and the citabria! I absolutely love those aircraft.

  6. I just wanted say that really hit the nail on the head for me! really helpful thank you.
  7. some meaningful and informative comments. thanks for the read. If I can chime in with my 2 cents (disclaimer: I have never done a cross country flight. only have my gfpt and so reflecting on that experience). I was doing 3 sometimes 4 sessions a week. after my first solo, I got to the point were I hit a hard wall. when I was up flying it just always felt like a mechanical process and not one of learning. this is something to keep in mind when I do go back to flying.
  8. what car did you have that can buy you this house? lol

  12. This was very interesting to see this!
  13. Thanks Geoff. and best of luck. keep us posted with your training..
  14. I have only flown up to and completed my GFPT test. all my instruction were done in a citabria. but in preparation to start my training back these are the elements I recall finding difficult to overcome.
  15. So I've been thinking back on my primary training days about what I found the hardest thing to overcome! and this list is what comes to mind. Normal landings Crosswind landings Judging the flare for landing Maintain centreline approach from final Correcting for wind drift on the upwind leg Maintaining level wings in general Remembering to do my downwind checks BUMFISH Feeling for when the plane is slipping or skidding Keeping a constant lookout i.e not looking at the gauges (thanks to flight simulator) Sensory overload Taxing on centreline so I look back and also think there was much "unlearning" I had to do as well. would like to hear from others what challenges/difficulties you faced while undergoing your primary training. regards
  16. Welcome Geoff, and best of luck. could you tell us what you'd like to achieve from your flight training? what type of aircraft are you learning to fly in?
  17. you can use a digital voice recorder and a audio splitter. I have only seen this on youtube and not tried it myself though.
  18. I did my ab-initio training in one of these and can testify that it sure is a pleasure to fly. hoping to get back into one to do some aeros at some stage!
  19. A very fine looking aircraft! loved the album and thanks for sharing. Bara
  20. interesting video. no room for error there. but indeed i did notice he landed on the displaced threshold! I'm sure there was a good reason for that. thanks for sharing.
  21. Hi I'm interested in this thread. I have flown and achieved my gfpt in a citabria back in 2010 and haven't flown since. Now I want to convert to lsa due to the cost. So what I would like to know is from ur post what discipline do you refer to? Regards
