As the plug goes through numerous hot/cold (or maybe less hot) cycles every second, its not inconceivable that the gap could open up or close up due to impurities in the metallurgy, and from high voltage jumping across the gap, erosion will occur.

Ive been told mr sheen is good, and also that it's is good for use on lexan or plexiglas windscreens? Apparently takes all those light scratches out of them. Can anyone confirm or refute that?

Yeah. A lambda value of 1 equals stoichiometic which is 14.7 :1 with unleaded.
I use lambda from when I was working on cars.o2 sensors where really called lambda sensors.
