  1. They do have a variable pitch prop, so that's something to get wrong or go wrong.
  2. And if the advice given in the article was incorrect, you could reasonably expect that a correction would have been issued, especially since it is OUR ABC. Not to mention that numerous people are carrying out activities as described in the article without any trouble, except for those not exercising “social distancing “.
  3. Yes Turbo , we get that, but you were trying to tell us that the previous document was stage 2, and that stage 3 (on Monday) came in after the article that was published on Thursday. The ABC Article is about stage 3 home confinement. When you become the QLD health minister, I might start listening. What I can tell you for fact is that the original issue of the Home confinement directive had fewer exceptions (5), it was then updated to show more (14), and then it was updated with some very minor corrections that I haven't been able to pick, so as often occurs with govt documents, it's likely they were spelling/grammar corrections. They have also changed the site layout, which is bloody annoying, as previously it had a link to the previous directives and you could easily see what had changed, which is what I have been doing. I don't take my directives from flying forum members.

Stage two ceased Stage 3 has been in effect since last Monday (29MAR19), the details in the ABC article were well after stage 3 was implemented, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. Even the document you have linked was published was published on 02APR, but updated on 05APR, and the changed must have been quite minor, because I can't pick a difference between the two. The previous documents were completely different. The minister's office has made no corrections to the article in regards to saying it was ok to go for a solo motorcycle ride, and if that stands, it would be quite reasonable to expect that a solo flight would also be acceptable, even a dual flight if both occupants reside in the same household. I don't see that anyone has broken rules here, there is still a reasonable amount of private flying happening, and if it was an issue at this stage, one might expect that it would be mentioned specifically.
  5. The document has two dates at the bottom, and I haven’t been able to see just what it is that they’ve changed. What I have seen between that and more recent documents, is that generally they have expanded on what is permissible. You need to understand that I agree that the letter of the law says stay at home, but the the minister has gone and made exceptions would suggest that solo flying would be within the intent of the law. Yes, I understand that one may end up testing that. That said, your comment about people dying in a plane crash because the broke the corona laws, while technically correct, is utter rubbish.

  7. It is sort of relevant JG....as it was suggested quite strongly the no one should have been aviating at all. There appears to be a difference of opinion about that.
  8. While it's still burning the breathing apparatus is definitely necessary, both polyester and epoxy matrices are extremely toxic when incinerated.
  9. By "sorted", I mean it's curable, and for the record they will let you nurse koalas. Although, taking it upon yourself to nurse a wild one requires some caution and has significant risk...and it's not chlamydia.

I'm guessing that there a lots of chemicals that will kill corona in a petrie dish.

  16. It's not a Thorpe T18. That was a misunderstanding when Thruster88 was referred to as T88 and somehow people started assuming there was a T18 involved. All the studies I have read about carbon fibre are of the opinion that the carbon fibres are too large to behave like asbestos, but no-on is willing to find out for sure. They do get smaller if they have been through an intense fire, but once again they don't think they are small enough to behave like asbestos, but they get everyone to wear the PPE just in case. I'm pretty sure the one at Kingaroy is a Cessna ag aircraft, but it does look a bit like a Pawnee.

  18. Part of the problem is interpretation. Regs are so poorly written that they are often interpreted differently by different people. This is what leads to problems. I have problems all the time with people who can't understand basic english, and this becomes much worse when documents that need to be understood by Joe Public are written in legalese. Other countries can do it, surely we could at least try to simplify. It doesn't need to as complicated as it is.
  19. I can only assume that we are talking about the same thing, but frequently we aren't. I am talking about people not recording minor defects on the MR, because it's too easy for someone with absolutely no idea to ground the aircraft unnecessarily because they don't understand what they are looking at. I'm not suggesting that people should't record minor defects, but that the system that it works under is overly complicated. People will use a simple system, the more complex, the more it will be avoided.

  21. The point was that you could fly and comply with the intent of the law, but not the letter of the law. If I fuel my jerrycans at the same time I fuel my vehicle to attend work, then there is no more risk. The is no toilet, no tap, or anyone else at the hangar. It’s a shed ina large paddock in the middle of nowhere. Most of this country does not resemble urban Melbourne. It’s really not a difficult concept to grasp. As I said before, since they changed the words from “should” to “must” , I stay at home as required because QLD cops cannot be trusted with a little authority let alone a loose reign. I do actually understand that regardless of what I think of the law, non-compliance could be expensive.
  22. And flying solo is about as isolated as you can be . Not all us live in cities. Many times I go flying without interacting with a single person from when I walkout my door to when I walk back in.
