  1. It wouldn't be difficult then to argue that the fat moll outside the takeaway shop with the other fat molls is not carrying out essential business, given that most of the ones I see could easily go 3 weeks with nothing but water.
  2. Anna and Dan have a lot in common. Better still just paint "AIRFORCE or ARMY" on the side and give it an A number, just make sure you're wearing a green flight suit. Oh' and call yourself something silly on the radio like "Cumshotzerotwo".
  3. The article I read said $800 000, around 500 infringement notices. The helicopter incident just proves what I think about QLD cops. They can't be trusted with a little authority, let alone a loose reign. The whole point of the law is to keep people away from one another to prevent infection transmission, and he was doing that very effectively. I guess with little to no traffic this easter there's going to be a massive shortfall in penalty income that they feel they have to make up. Stage 3 directives were completely unnecessary as new infections were already dropping off well prior to to it's implementation.
  4. Check the SBs first you may well find your serial is outside the range of those affected. Weighing the floats is the test to see if they’re ok.
  5. I thought about putting a "funny" on it, but it's way to close to reality to be funny.
  6. Essentially it's a generalisation, which means that it doesn't mean it applies to everyone, but if you go back through the accident and incident threads, not only here but other sites too, you will see that some voice concern for those involved. Meanwhile there while be some that are downright accusatory, there will be arguments about what happened and why it happened and what the punishment should be....all barely before an investigation has started, let alone been completed. We got to page two of discussion on this thread before it was openly suggested that the pilot was flying illegally. The veiled suggestion was only a few posts in from the start. I urge to to go through and have a good read and see if you still believe that most or all of those in the discussion think they would learn something that would help them fly safer.
  7. I think that you are overthinking the issue. On takeoff you won't be looking at engine gauges and especially not oil pressure. If you have an oil pressure loss on takeoff, you will likely be going around unless it's very early. The last thing you need is a distraction telling you to reduce power on climbout. For most light aircraft an audible alarm will be useless unless it's wired into your intercom, or REALLY LOUD.
  8. I refer you to post #101
  9. It wasn't a 912 or Jab, but a 1400 cc twin with massive torque swinging a 72 inch Sweetapple prop. The 912UL makes about 75 ft/lb at 5500, the Verner made about 95 ft/lb under 4000. It's certainly not comfortable. The only time I've done it is during tests.
  10. I was involved with some testing with the 80 hp Verner installation. One of the test requirements was to go VNE + 10%. The Verner would go straight through to 90 kts straight and level, but those wires would lose a lot of tension. I don’t think I would like to have seen them any looser.
  11. I have seen them used for culling feral goats, Flown from the rear seat while the front seater plays gunner with a Franchi SPAS12
  12. You should turn your head and have a look at what the wires from each trailing edge to the boom are doing while you're doing that.....
  13. Do you think we could get a bit of a handle on basics......If you "can't" or "cannot" do something, generally it's not possible due to physics or something. In regards to the law, your are "not permitted" or "not allowed". You can, for the most part, do things that are "not permitted", but may face some consequences, then there are things you actually "can't" do, like get to 100 knots in an X-air standard in level flight.
  14. Don't take it personally, perhaps the post was more about internet forums than aviators., although there is come crossover there. The old AUF crowd used to be a fairly humble lot, but increasingly I find that trait to be disappearing. Have a trawl back through the accident and incident threads.....you might see what I mean. On the positive side, knowing that if I am to have a bingle, and that on certain internet forums I would be talked about and ridiculed gives me some extra incentive (and I already have considerable incentive) not to roll my plane in a ball..
  15. Honestly??? Have you read any of the accident and incident threads on here?
  16. Given that we haven't found new ways to kill ourselves while flying since somewhere around the thirties, I get the impression that while most will say they want to "learn" from the incident. The reality is that its just a macabre fascination, some schadenfreude and a desire to be right. Everyone puts forward their theory, and when and if the investigation is complete, someone will get to say "I knew it! ... I told you so".
  17. Finally!! You've spent the last two weeks telling the world what they MUST do, based on your interpretation of Chairman Dan's rules.
  18. Cut and past from the link below: What counts as exercise? There are a number of options other than walking, jogging, or riding a bike. Going on a solo motorcycle ride counts as exercise, according to the Queensland Health Minister's office. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-03/coronavirus-queensland-home-confinement-rules/12084660
  19. With the appropriate endorsements you don't need to be at 500 feet.
  20. If they stole it for personal use, it's not a workaround. If it's a workaround, someone on your site will be using them because it was impossibly difficult to convince their boss the cables were necessary.
  21. It's what they call a "workaround" these days, normally used to get around an unworkable system, not much has changed.
  22. Yep, Apparently while workers are out of jobs by the thousands, they are advertising that there is still plenty of work for backpackers and special visas available. Go figure. They say it's OK to ride a motorcycle as exercise, you say we can't fly a plane for the same, they say it's OK for groups of backpackers to travel between communities is OK, but not for anyone else. I would have thought that anyone like backpackers that have been travelling are likely to be mixing with others that have been travelling (like your Bondi group) and as such are most likely to be carrying infection fro place to place. People respect the law more when it shows some common sense and consistency.
  23. Most of the ones I've used more than once though, I tend to take notice of what's where because I like to plan in advance where ever possible where I'm landing when the engine stops. I know I'm not the only one.
  24. Clear as mud... I understand how one calculates the $13300, but the QLD govt website gives different fines in different paragraphs. https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/government-actions/gatherings Home confinement/Indoor/ outdoor gatherings/travel: Not following any of these regulations without reasonable excuse is a breach of the Public Health Act 2005 and you may be fined up to $1,330 for individuals and $6,670 for corporations. Accommodation Providers: If the person does not comply with the public health directions, penalties will apply: $13,345 for individuals and $66,672.50 for corporations. It is possible the enforcement officer can issue on the spot tickets of $1,334.50 or $6,672.50 for corporations. Backpackers and such: If you do not comply with the public health directions, penalties will apply: $13,345 for individuals and $66,672.50 for corporations. It is possible the enforcement officer can issue on the spot tickets of $1,334.50 or $6,672.50 for corporations.
  25. A bulkhead fitting might have been preferable but this is what holds that type of cable end... Ath the bottom of page 170 on this PDF https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-4b8OLyanGNU0l3Nk51b1FCd3M/view
