  1. Can l give you a long length of wire !. Proberly 4 metres green anywere you cut it, was over 15 metres but tried very hard to find that elusive good end to crimp another terminal on. Sea water travels uphill to ruin copper . Even up on roofs that copper will be GREEN. spacesailor
  2. Super lightweight pilot, & no fuel, it gets the ' floating bit ' a little better. spacesailor
  3. That ! Replace the vehicle when the pandemic is over. Is my thinking! . Logbook records : 15/2/21 last driven. Previously : 12/ 6/ 20. After fitting a new battery. Milage 12/6/20 : 218,638 Now, 219,675 spacesailor
  4. RFguy Number four ETHANOL ! If leaving any engine for extended periods, the ethanol will separate from it,s parent chemical, petrol or diesel, Not good at all, l need to know how to over come this problem, with my car Unused for nearly a year now. Could be Next year these unused vehicles, may explode the first time driveing . My oil is two years out of date, but no kilometers driven, do l change the oil per p o h,. ( 12 month ). spacesailor
  5. SAINTY Was one of the best Australian made motors. American drag fed had to change the rules to stop its dominance. spacesailor
  6. Nothing Seems to stop the green corrosion! . BUT fully tinned copper wire. The soldered joint can be tapred from the full solder joint, down to the last couple of wires. Then a epoxy coat , shrink wraped before setting & finely, a good thick coating of lanolin grease. And fastened correctly to stop vibration. spacesailor
  7. Will we ever get over this covid 19. Yes l would like to go for a nice Loong drive, away from the city. Even to the Far far north of Queensland. spacesailor
  8. Yes I,m a little lost on that. It is KPH. I,m forever working out miles then, Kilometers and knots. Or could their be another answer. spacesailor
  9. I see l stuffed up that " 85 knt " speed !, should read 185 knts. Very surprised no one commented on it. spacesailor
  10. That last flght Was my presolo test flight. Nothing was right, From the toilet stop before doing the preflight check, the takeoff too fast, navigation too slack, speed too slow, ( first time at 85 knts in the Foxbat ) . The list too long. ! But l still managed to land, in the right place, successfully. spacesailor
  11. No recent flying !. ( stopped me dead in my tracks ). But Just like riding a bicycle . You never lose the concept. Took to a motor bike after 50 years, of refusing to wear a ' crash helmet ' . First tiff at 15, (English Air Cadets,). Then a couple of war birds that went to the smelter. ( as passenger). Second N Z (in my 30s ( just a chance encounter )). With two aircraft given to me, & one that disappeared. The C A C, Wirraway was left on display at the train museum Upperhut Wellington. ( Stokes valley ). The Trans avia Airtruck, with its broken nose wheel, l just phoned Trans avia, & was told " no spares " so left it in the rough at Kapiti airfield. Then Australia, hang gliding, sailplane, a couple of Thruster flights. Then into it. Foxbar A22 training at the Oaks, Gee a life story !. LoL spacesailor
  12. Did you try the ' SCIMITAR ' Prop. IT IS RUMORED, to give an extra degree or two of pitch after takeoff. spacesailor
  13. GOOD I don,t have to rush to ' have another try ). Plenty of time ! .LoL spacesailor
  14. I wonder ? Is there an expiry date for us wannabe pilots. If we get our driving licence when 81 yo, can it even be posible to get passed the beaurocratic system. spacesailor
  15. " With a ' known ' litres per hour of engine time !. Were,s the problem ?. Rotax are known to have good records of consumption. AND At six litres per hour, can my Hummel just have a two litre bottle of fuel, plus funnel. "☆ On the last word of the fourth line. The cap is attached, top off bottle , funnel to cover the fuel, then upend into the gapping orifice. All to be done in one quick smooth movement. spacesailor
  16. Never got that First solo. Boo Hoo, tears & tantrums. spacesailor
  17. With a ' known ' litres per hour of engine time !. Were,s the problem ?. Rotax are known to have good records of consumption. AND At six litres per hour, can my Hummel just have a two litre bottle of fuel, plus funnel. After exhausting the fuel tank l could reach over the windscreen to top up with my two ltres, for anothe 40 minutes of flight. LoL Why are the Heavy aircraft so poor in fuel management !. Even some jumbo jets have run out of fuel !, & aren,t they professionals. spacesailor
  18. I tried to do what l normally did, or was taught. Speed to rotate, revs held be angle of attack & horizon at the correct position on the windscreen. Should have been all ok. NO solo flight fo me !. spacesailor
  19. My chief flying instructor said " you have taken off too fast ", BUT He was half the size of my daily instructor. Can,t win against beaurocrasy, l just was,nt told there was a standard ' clinb rate ' on takeoff. spacesailor
  20. I almost bought a 150 Eagle aircraft. It was an insurance disposal. $5,000 US. The damage was only the tail wheel getting smashed off when it was put ( tailwheel ), up on a bench fot ' final weighing ) .with its Brand-new Hirth motor. How do you buy planes in America. Why so cheap, no one repairs glass or carbon fibre composites. Here ( Australia ) The only repairer charges. 50% ownership. Plus cost. ( i tried to buy a sailplane, with a damaged nose cone, ( didn,t stop in time ! ). I won't touch composite at all. spacesailor
  21. Valves are known to be ' ;adapted ' to the valve seat requirements. Stem length & diameter are the norm to fit, the head can be machined to the size required, the seal is ground when all other sizes do fit. OLDEN days required ' adaptability more than, off the shelf availability. Just an old persons, thoughts on spare parts, ( like a rejplacement hip !. ) LoL spacesailor
  22. " to not require " Did l miss something in the wording ?. spacesailor
  23. Only because THEY LOST That battle at " AZINCOURT " northern France. Neve forgave those blooody poms. They,r not even alowed to say the English word " LORRY ". spacesailor
  24. So Has anyone thought about making a ' return line ' back into the oil-tank ?. Just to use premix, while leaving the pump in situ. spacesailor
  25. All very well ! , using ' premix '. But If rotax put a pump fot that oil , do we have to remove said pump, Or Run the pump without its lubricating oil ?. spacesailor
