  1. In 95 -10 you have to comply with their ' wing loading rule ' . I believe it is their only class with this rule . As most Australians are getting heavier , so 95-10 needs a workaround to accommodate heavier pilots . spacesailor
  2. Part 103 Maximum speed 55 mph ! . RAA Minimum speed 40 mph ! . Blooody hard with only 15 mph flying envelope . And will they be limited to 300 ft ! , as were the first AUF aircraft. A deadly hight ! , it was determined. Will CASA even allow a more dangerous aircraft to even fly . RAA WANTS bigger, heavier, and safer aircraft, ( General Aviation) , ' At the expense of the smaller exAUF aircraft they inherited. So leave the smaller more economical aircraft to other's . spacesailor
  3. Kasper wrote " it would look like this " .300 klgm Mtow , ! . Two of my grand daughters , partners would be heading for 300 klgm IN THEIR CLOTHS . They are much larger than my 100 klgm , Makes me look puny when beside them . LoL spacesailor
  4. Why such a low weight of airframs AND pilot . . 300 klgm. RAA are forever pushing for higher weights , why not start at the maximum or Average Australian weight per age bracket . It Is very hard to Reduce what years have piled on our waistline. Remember AUF were trapped for years with a dangerous low hight restriction ( could be 300 ft ( to low for a parachute)) . spacesailor
  5. SO !. Just how do the Americans manage their 103 class oof Aviators ?. I have met One microlight aviator at the Rylstone flyin . spacesailor
  6. The' Sydney Recreational Flying Club does, hire it's aircraft ! , but only to club members . So . Join the club and hire the aircraft at club rates. spacesailor
  7. The Oaks airfield only has a helicopter, !. Occasionally practising landings . Besides you as you take-off or land . Makes for a sudden crosswind. spacesailor
  8. Lots of companies are advertising. I also asked , ' can I get a licensed pilot to be my chauffeur. If I paid for a hire aircraft ' . The response was . Deafening ! . Good luck. spacesailor
  9. AND. People are still friendly. Back to your hangaridge just wait for the winner of the " Jet LIFE " lottery . He may lease the hangar that comes with the ' Sirrus SR22 ' plane , that he may not need . Twelve months lease , spacesailor
  10. Rylstone. !. Over the hill would be too far as well . Nice place to put your feet up in a live-in Hangar-Home. I Was looking at Bodangora airstrip at Wellington , 5 hours drive , but with relo's , there it could work . spacesailor
  11. I,very often noticed the clouds moving in a circular pattern over the city . Could the rising heat , from the city, be making the rising air revolve, like the " bath water " gurgling down the plug-hole . spacesailor
  12. The frame of ' cabanas ' can withstand lots more wind than the canopy !. Which of course can be jettisoned, by using weak ties onto said frame . The frame Needs substantial lashings & tie-downs , to keep it were it is supposed to Stay . spacesailor
  13. Cheapest ' lightweight ' shelter is undoubtedly, a " wedding cabana " , or a pair of cheaper standard cabanas. Perhaps , you could put three together. Two over the wings plus one for the tail area . Light enough to lift off your air raft when needed. Good anchored tiedowns essential. A 12X6 is less than a $ 1,000. Amozen of course. spacesailor
  14. Not quite !. He provided the information to Re- register , the already registered " 10-1103 " , As a 19- xxxx aircraft . Also VHE XXX ( experimental ) . No one has found a way to keep it's original category 10 designation. IF I put the wing of a " pegasus trike " on the Hummel. It CAN still stay in the 10 category. But ! . being SO blooody ugly , I loath to put my name on that register. spacesailor
  15. There Was talk years ago of building a large hanger . I saw some frames in the rough grass there . spacesailor
  16. O M E Thank you ! . It was close though. I tried to google it , and that was the only one ( I thought) recognisable. Such a small rule , that if you said " I flew a test circuit " , that rule didn't apply. ' Grandfathers rule ' . SO It Is an ' iniquitous ' rule that targets ( seemingly) one aircraft , out of all the models , they are changing rules , to accommodate , G A aircraft . spacesailor
  17. Cheap to. Build , Cheap to fly, Cheap to hangar . Then insurance, but it's not a $ million aircraft so it ' should be cheap .. Then , I'm told " It's Fun to fly " . spacesailor
  18. Perhaps , that could be Why the " Hummel bird " was singled-out to be grounded by that innocuous " wing loading rule " . The specs for most aircraft are nowhere, as good for a " home- build " single seat , all metal monoplane. At 6 lph cruising at 100 mph. It say heaps for the design. spacesailor
  19. A little off topic ,. BUT IS a curly cord , any better than a straight cord ? . And who puts wires together , red to blue and blue to red . spacesailor
  20. I tried to get the Vixxen price from their Web sites. Not much good for price comparisons. spacesailor
  21. My 40 mph against an oncoming vehicle doing 40 mph . Headon smash of two vehicles, both doing the same 40 mph = 80 mph . Better I hope
  22. I had a ' Super Sabre ' given to me , when I worked for a ' scrap metal company ' . Bit of a joke on me, the boss knowing I couldn't do anything with it . Fully fuelled And ARMED . It could have been flown away , that day. Those " canons " I spent day's pulling them apart . spacesailor
  23. Taping alloy is not good , as it binds in the tap thread's. BEST To get' HEX ' BAR ,then you don't have ' galvanic problems. spacesailor Oops read that last post after I hit send . Make them all alloy .
  24. Let me look again ! . To buy & build a Hangar-Home $ 150,000 ., ( someone said ). A brand new Aeroprakt Vixxen , ?. ( I will have to let someone fill that price in ) . But less than $ 250,000 . ( I hope ). How much to get it delivered ? $ 95,350 ! Seems awfully steep . So , only half a $ million , I would still feel like a millionaire. spacesailor PS the wife would have something to say about the house !. LoL
  25. Yes !. I agree about my' dream-machine being too much for recreational flying. Did you see the garage bill ?. ( hangaridge ) , $ 15,000 Insurance only $ 50,000 , delivery cost , $ 95,000 . Management cost ,WEEE !. $ 163,650 , For twelve months , UNBELIEVABLE . spacesailor
