  2. Another Not so dumb question ?. Is there an online site to get All our knowledge from !. If a 100 v motor will fun on 1/2 that volts, why not a lesser v to land with, instead of expensive Amp escapement IE battery disconnect switich, All on takeoff power , 1/2 off cruise, 1/4 of batteries to land., & one bank to idle the prop. Then of course that B M S will charge them All back to normal full charge That should be a backyard shed project. Even tho they will be staggered in getting to Full charge. spacesailor
  3. 100 volts max!. That means lots of 3.7 v , or half that with 7.2 v X 14 for the max takeoff power. It puts the retail price of battery,s into the crazy bin. spacesailor
  4. Just looked at a 35kw brushless motor, but there was no voltage mentioned. How do you find the right battery to fit a dc motor, without the manufacturer stating , volts. Mp 238 50. Max amps 350. Weight 15 kg. Old i C motor weighs in 35 kilo,s & 33 kw,s, plus fuel & tank. So Leaves lots of weight for batteries. To bring the CG to were it should be. And get rid of the shift in C G as fuel burns off in flight. spacesailor
  5. Eight years !. yes Just 8 years, the target, for dumping, All our privately owned I C vehicles. ENGLAND is converting secondhand cars already, In eight years l don,t think there will be a lot of improvement in the batteries. SO Going on holiday's interstate will be a thing of the past. Also the fuel cost is already getting prohibitive for just leisurely Holliday use. spacesailor

  8. BUT without R E G, one particular hill is third gear. Then blank removed , flat to floor in second gear !. So, quite a big power loss. For any towing vehicle. Then L P G injection gives a big boost to the same motor !, IF you Never ever, run out of diesel, the straight L P G will blow the engine. spacesailor
  9. Due the extra power, used to overcome the R E G pollution in the air inlet, Are more oxides produced, than if there cleaner air is used, That is a 64 thousand $ question. spacesailor
  10. Iv,e often driven my 4 X4s across rivers. BUT Thats not the reason for my snorkel, it,s merly to get the air inlet above the 1 metre high Dust cloud on our dirt roads. Often worried about the water coming in the Open windows, as it is above the bonnet, & only a little lower at the window sill. Lucky me, all went well, & nobody came to grief. My biggest trip & convoy was approximately 80 4X4s, traveling NSW, SA, NT, Queensland & then back to Sydney . Those without snorkels had to chang air filters every other day, spacesailor
  11. Does ' carbon monoxide ' have any effect, on an IC motor. AND IF. Exhaust gas is so bad for an engine !, why have " Reticulated Exaust Gas " systems on motor vehicles . AND If those engine manufacturers make/endorse a modification. WHY Does this government refuse to allow modifications. spacesailor

  13. The ' Loaded ' alternator needs that power input. Never get something for nothing. Or is there no ' power input ' while vehicle is in use. ( like a posties bike ). spacesailor

  16. Lucky my half VW, has No exhaust manifold, is a very short pipe And never glows red, ( per side ) Not yet And in a nose down would possibly break the two 8 mm bolts off leaving those hot pipes on the ground. spacesailor
  17. onetrack I agree tottaly. Putting the Main harness behind the cylinder head in cars !, ( on the firewall. ) So in a headon crash the motor crushes that harness between the firewall & head. AND More often next to a fuel vapour/return, Plastic hose. spacesailor
  18. I find, l will take a long Hour,s drive to the Oaks, just to buy 20 litres of avgas. BUT The next airport is Bankstown, three or four times the distance !. And is security controlled, so no sales to joe public there. I,ve never been to Camden airport ( yet ). spacesailor
  19. My motor will run-on when using 95. ( 9.1 to 1 com ratio ). No problems with avgas or using 98. spacesailor
  20. When ever picking a tube ( any ) check were it is folded !. Often four folds with a zip tye to keep it small. As a lot are cracking at thar fold. spacesailor

  22. Something similar happened in Wellington NZ, a good few years ago. Turned out, a group of people with kites that had LEDs within them, flew them for hours across the habour, & they were very high. spacesailor
  23. I ' found ' a Holden chasis on a farm dump, l checked the serial on number and it was in the hundreds. Made in America, the Australian body long gone, with only the rear axle attached. BUT In a ' lean to ' shed was a old wooden spoked flat back truck. Could have been Ford Or Chevrolet. The property manager said it has been in the ' falling down ' shed, three owners ago. & only the owner could let it go. spacesailor
  24. Nowhere to fly models in the UK !. Theres always the Golf course !!! .LoL My K,K, Ladybird flew ' slow & low ', Mills .75 & single channel with ' blip throttle control. spacesailor
