  1. And, no pictures for posterity. spacesailor
  2. VW You can make your own Prop , for less than $ 100 . The ' pitch ' seems small at 0.8 . Metre ? 34 inch . That's my " half VW 1200 cc motor . spacesailor
  3. " solo'd in a foxbat " . With a couple of hours training in a taildragger . ( thrown in for fun ) . But , with " type " training . spacesailor
  4. May I enquire as too, ' replying ' to the drifting thread . To do , or, not to do ! . That is my dilemma . spacesailor
  5. Do you mean no endorsement required?. Going " solo " is the start of being " PIC " . SO I've go a couple of hours in the Foxbat then change to train in a taildragger . I have been " checked " to fly any tail dragger . Even ' Draco's turboprop hyperstol ' taildragger . spacesailor
  6. Is it " rotax " hub ? . spacesailor
  7. Can I use an " aircraft-" radio from the clubhouse legally to talk to a flying pilot . Can I fly a tail dragger after going solo in a " foxbat ". Or go to Mittagong after soloing at the Oaks . spacesailor
  8. more endorseendo's . Don't we have enough. Endorsement for radio , air to ground then another for ground to Air ! . Endorsement for flying then another to fly the a different landing place . Endorsed to fly the training aircraft , then another Endorsement to fly tailwheel . to high then, to low flying endorsement. spacesailor
  9. So after a lot of toing & froing. what will I call the petrol , that I put into my aircraft's fuel tank , other than " Avgas " . 98 Ron ( octane ) . spacesailor
  10. I use "Avgas " or 98 Ron . Anything less is detrimental to my high compression VW type motor. I found that , leaving E10 fuel for extended periods can let the Ethanol separate. As I had a crook hip for longer than " Healthy " , my two vehicles were refilled once per year . Compulsory road worthy check l spacesailor
  11. We miss his video posts. spacesailor
  12. Shawbury in Shropshire England. Has sill got many aircraft wreaks , it stopped scrapping them in 1972 . What's left there will just rot away . Lots more places than I ever went to . I was going to post a picture, but decided ! , noeer . ( too many engines ) . spacesailor
  13. " No shortage of aircraft engines " . I went to different factories , picking up boxed engines , dropped onto the truck . ( to brake the box ) , All brand new. Wouldn't be $ 20 each ( 10 pound) . The price of the new Harley Davison motor bike in a box to go last onto said truck . Same factory. Not just one . Hundreds . spacesailor : just to put engines in here too .
  14. Don't criy . they ( all ) went into the 'smelter ' even brand new , still crated & coated with a hard Inhibitor . After the war . They were never made to last for long . So their, demise was to feed the Hungary. spacesailor
  15. The only " gold " miner . To get rich was Murphy. The water supplier . spacesailor
  16. My aircraft is grounded ! . How much safer does CASA need it , to be safe . spacesailor
  17. My 95-10 registration was on the raaus list of registered aircraft . As they tookover AUF . with my rego on their list . 18 in a builder's list . One is registered in the 19 category. Then removed for being out of " wing load factor" . spacesailor
  18. And don't forget the English blind pilot , who was invited to land at " Sydney Kingford Smith " airport . spacesailor
  19. Anything for the ' older ' 95-10 registration. Just asking ! . spacesailor
  20. We " East Coasters " have that same problem with " sharks " . We stopped eating them !. Now they are eating us . spacesailor
  21. " no adjustments " . To ' adjust ' a wooden prop . You simply , remove a tiny piece of ' leading ' edge ' to increase pitch . Or remove a tiny piece of ' trailing edge to decrease pitch . try that on any composite prop that is fixed pitch . And there was/is " ground adjustable " wooden props ! . That are a fraction of the weight and cost of ' plastic fantastic props . spacesaiilor PS. : my aircraft was registered as ' fitted with a home-made wooden prop ' . So any wooden prop could be fitted . but a composite prop couldn't. Without a " maruup " as stated previously. The weight difference would is huge .
  22. You can't ' buy ' cheaper , or made with dedication. Than your own work . Expensive glue , & 3 very cheap ( by comparison ) planks of wood . Glued together. Then your hard work to make a $ 50 , wonder propeller. Even the " lofting " is simple . spacesailor
  23. Stainless insert for that leading edge. It's all possible when DIY . PYLON500 Made a composite prop , vacuum bagged , but " never again " said he . spacesailor
  24. Unless they're sheaved in FRP ! . Then it's waterproofed. spacesailor
  25. When ! . Your ' home chopped prop ' is as good as you can make it , cover it in lightweight glass and epoxy to get a super prop Finnish. spacesailor
