  1. In this ' high tech world' a camera would let you see ahead . utube has lots of aircraft with many camera's . Even down to a small HummelBird . spacesailor
  2. It doesn't help ( volume increases ) for the many sufferer's of. " industrial deafness ". Only three frequencies damaged ( by adjacent machinery ) that stops Me hearing ' parts ' of words , with the quiet sound . The louder the sound , the more problematic it becomes . spacesailor
  3. I have a " remote " for my stereo ear-aids . But while flying ( training ) I never used them as the headset squeezed them into my skull . spacesailor
  4. That is what I practically did . Walking through the dense bush , and there was an engine . I never thought to scout around , who knows what your first thoughts will be ! . That engine could have been many miles away from the wreckage site . A tree could have knocked it out before the plane actually crashed. spacesailor
  5. Many ( an awful lot ) years ago I did find a crashed Australian aircraft ! . It was an Australian war plane that couldn't find the Wellington NZ airport because of dense cloud cover . It circled Wellington untill it ran out of fuel All the time talking to Wellington airport control . I photographed the engine block , to get the number . & got the story. It was I initially found after many years . And a dozer was used the bury it & the crew . I found the missing engine , less than 5 miles from my house . spacesailor
  6. I did toy with the idea of ' aluminium tube " instead of rubber hose ( oil-cooling ) to the oil filter , as a weight saver, plus heat extraction . Put into the " too hard basket " . spacesailor
  7. Similar to the other crash , that had a better outcome . " the riddle of the stinson " . Made into a film . spacesailor
  8. we have all your information. ! . Big brother is watching you . spacesailor
  9. Perhaps the Chinese are ' just ' doing that . With the world's cheapest LPG . spacesailor
  10. But that " safety " factor plays it's role . spacesailor
  11. WAG. Cricket's Wives And Girlfriends . spacesailor
  12. I think it's time, for the return of the " Dirigibles " . With the ' inert ' lighter than air gas, & Solar energy driving electric motors . The larger they are , the more efficient they are. Cost vs cost over jumbo jets , with far lower running. Cost . spacesailor
  13. " Kinder poison " . Sounds like ' flouride ' , good for some teeth, but at health problems. spacesailor
  14. Mt Erebus, was a government oversight. they forgot to inform the pilot's , of the new navigation correction. Then , tried to put that disaster onto the pilot . " pilot Error " . spacesailor
  15. Lots of Negative talk but one lightweight wheel, will ( hopefully ) show a little difference in the wearing of a matched pair. Not much wear on the ' grass ' strip's, with more wear on those , using hard strip landing . So has anyone , looked at tyre wear . spacesailor
  16. How about a ' light ' aircraft appraisal. Seems a cheaper option, than a super sized jumbo tyre . On a slower aircraft you may get away with a paper blade attached to your tyre . Just have to put the park break on ( to stop bearing wear ) , and off when landing . Another thing to remember! . spacesailor
  17. Aircraft travelling at 60kn downwind. ' 80 kn ground speed ) Turning at normal rate into headwind , the ground speedwell drop to 40 kn . Any windshear will drop your wing fast . ( according to my instructor ( always add airspeed when turning slow,). spacesailor
  18. Is the " minimum stall speed " set too low , so pilots think they can Still manoeuvre, while flying too slow . 60 kn in a straight line will be so near the minimum, they could stall when turning . spacesailor
  19. How about the size . If the right mounting holes , the length can be shortened . Make your own ! . Not hard for that straight prop . spacesailor
  20. I went to grab a photo of my last " Subaru " can of upper-engine cleaner. But either I hid it too well . Or , the grandies have used it . There is a video on Google. ' Subaru upper-engine cleaner sa459 ' To show the ease of decoding the " boxer " motor . spacesailor
  21. Zepplins in a fog ! . " short order cooking " , Sounds American . They give everything a nickname .general purpose. JP . Now Jeep . spacesailor
  22. Or completely empty, with the bung out . To facilitate drainage . spacesailor
  23. The branded ' decarb ' rattle can , is sprayed into the inlet of a hot engine. My Hummel-Bird only gets half an hour run . Starting on the choke . Being small, it soon gets to it's normal operating temperature. But of course not for long . Three litres of fuel for the monthly run . Makes me wonder if the choke is too much . spacesailor
  24. Some ' car ' makers have their own branded , ' rattle can ' decode cleaner . Tried it on a few engines , without any problems. How many hours to get a decent carbon deposit. ( on my Hummel-Bird ) . spacesailor
  25. Has any one tried a piece of silver glare shield. ( most cars use black ) . I had a cut piece behind the Delica mirror, were the sun blinds don't meet . It will take that hot glare off your SE . spacesailor
