  1. Love it! good to see and should be more of it done everywhere.
  2. Tell them you are interested in buying a couple of them Phil and see if you get a better response! No need to pussyfoot around and let truths slow the information highway:whistling:
  3. A bit north of warialda, I think if you go to the airstrip section in this forum you can see a pin there:wave: actually I have friends that must only be 10-20 ks from rank as the crow flies and have promised I would fly up there one day, maybe a trip for the YQDI flyers should be organised:thumb up:
  4. I can simpathise with you Rank, I hap a superstol fly over and some funny yodel pilot ring me to let me know how enjoyable it all was:sad angel:
  5. (post moderated) It's not worth leaving over though, at the end of the day this RAA ELAAA thing will be high emotion for a while but will settle down no doubt once all the facts are known. And this Forum is a lot more than two entities, at the end of the day we are all interested in flying and should be able to get along if we focus on that. It would be disappointing to see people leave because they thought they were being unfairly censored in one way or another and I think we should all be able to class our differences (RAA-Elaaa) as politics that, while worth discussing, aren't worth ruining friendships over.
  6. You would hope so, 13 knots doesn't seem a big number for a big plane. Having said that, if that was nearly a crash I will have to change the description of my rough landings from 'bounced a bit' to 'narrowly avoided catastrophe!'

    E&LAAA

Where does the 4 and 1 come from? From what I have read it is 3 and 1. Have I misread it? (post edited by mod above...)
  8. I think what Keith is saying is that the 7 board members we have in Raa is a better outcome than only having 5? Ok I am just guessing but then I saw the Elaaa has 3 so I am not really sure, maybe I am missing something obvious, time for an after lunch snooze.
  9. Well firstly let me say I strongly disagree with Kasper's 3 resolutions. I do not know all the ins and outs of what is required as far as notice in writing so many days before the meeting BUT it would be unnacceptable if his motions were not aloud if the 23 days was incorrect. As I said I disagree with his proposals and would happily send a no vote but I strongly support his right to put them forward no matter how silly I think they may be!
  10. My apologies Nev! I was trying to work out what you were on about when asking me to elaborate on my caution and thought you were talking about me cautioning others with words, I didn't click straight away and your post refferred me back to here and I thought you were asking for my opinion on flaring and to pass on some wise words of caution and I was thinking what on earth could I tell people that hasn't already been said? I have only around 300 hrs compared to tens of thousands of hours of people like yourself and Dutchy so I reread the thread to try and see what had been missed and then I spotted my 'caution'! So please accept my belated apology it was a big thumb small screen moment and I didn't click with the new "like" names so it took me longer than was appropriate to remove it. as a post script I find I flare perfectly after the first bounce.
  11. I guess you were referring to this thread Nev and this post? ? I can't seem to quote myself, it seems my post is waiting mod approval so maybe that is why? I prefer not to take sides Nev and was only trying to keep it a civil conversation, I guess I came across a bit abrupt. I can understand Ian getting upset (and I don't know the whole picture) but the site owner telling people to f off is a bad look even though it is his site. I won't be entering into any RAA vs Elaaa arguments as I have only been RAA for 5 or so years so I don't know all the ins and outs and am happy to keep a watch out for both of their performance going forward and judge them accordingly.
  12. I wish I understood a little more about how all this tech stuff works Ian then I would have something helpful to add but I don't but thought I would comment to try and cheer you up anyway:thumb up: As it is will it affect new customers to the shop/clear prop or forum members that log into the shop? Most forum members would put up with more than a new customer inasmuch as they have already experienced the forum so are less likely to disappear whereas a new customer will happily click away and never look back if it is not right. I think I used clear prop once a long time ago so I am probably not a good example of an all round customer (even though I may resemble round!) Anyway why is no one else posting helpful thoughts? I am obviously rambling so I had better stop.
  13. That's weird! It is one rule that I never got at school because of all the exceptions but I must admit I never remember being taught the last part of the rule which clears up a lot of the exceptions! The complete rule is "I before E except after C and when sounded like A as in neighbour and weigh" This is some copy paste showing the "sounded like A" examples heir neighbor reign rein skein surveillance their veil vein weigh Some more copy and paste explaining the "sounding like A" words that don't sound like A Note: The words their and heir can be learned with this list. For one thing, the learner can associate theirwith they, which is pronounced with long a. For another, their is one of those high-frequency words that anyone who reads and writes at all should be able to master by completion of second grade. Heir can be learned with the mnemonic device of a “spelling pronunciation” that addresses the silent h as well as the ei spelling. But we still have these Exceptions to the Rule caffeine counterfeit either forfeit foreign heifer leisure neither sovereign seized weird
  14. Wow, a couple of feet to the side could have been a much worse outcome! The timing was at the worst possible time, the others started their takeoff roll as his canopy came up so I guess their attention was no longer on the flags? Do they run a Comms system? I guess even if they did it was only a matter of seconds.
  15. I would say that practicing forced landings should be done in most parts of the circuit and if well established on a crosswind leg a downwind landing on a beautiful runway would be a good option, once power was lost for real at 200 feet it became a certainty and although it could have been executed much better at least they walked away. My first thought when I first watched the vid was that they were idling too high but on further listening I couldn't be sure. I wonder if the when the engine lost power if it was a complete loss of power or a partial failure, if partial I wonder if the throttle had been closed or if it was indeed above idle hence making matters worse? I guess none of it matters but it is all worth talking over.
  16. That article does say it was an emergency landing but not sure if that was a typo or what not but maybe just maybe a go around wasn't an option?
  17. What video did you watch Diesel, I thought he glided for way to long:whistling:
  18. I've always loved the look of the Cri Cri BUT I never noticed before just how low the rear harness attachment point is compared to the shoulders, not my cup of tea
  19. I can't find the sooky like:whistling:. As a farmer we still use both systems, for nice accurate (for a farmer) stuff we use mm's but for bigger stuff that isn't so critical we like feet and/or inches. Of course huge things like paddock length ect are all better in metres or kilometres. Our row cropping was originally set up on 6 foot wheel spacing with 3 foot crop spacing back in grandads day and for us here it doesn't make sense to change for a couple of reasons. 1. The cost of replacing every piece of gear would be enormous and definitely wouldn't be economically viable. 2. For our soil here 1 metre rows are just too far apart and we lose productivity and changing to a close metric measurement for the sake of having a metric measurement seems a bit wasteful (ie no profit to be made from it!) of course we could just say we have 1.83 metre wheel spacing and 0.91 metre row spacing but they are rounded measurements so not accurate for wider widths and heaps harder than 6 and 3 to remember.
  20. I like the system as it is but if you need to remove one I think either creative or optimistic should go as they are the most negative of them all. As far as a disagree button goes, I thought we tried the thumbs down and I don't think it was total success.
  21. :gaah:Why!? :teacher:Well it is because forumites would misuse them to be mean for example Someone could do this :na na:which might make someone feel like this:bad_mood:which could cause this:throw pc:or this:smash pc: or at worst this:bash:which could lead to this:banned: or this:cops: You are ()
  22. If you put your wings in the "proper" position you wouldn't have any hassles:whistling:
  23. It looks much better now:amazon:........ Hey wait a minute half of my big wheel is missing
  24. If it is so rough you need both hands to fly then paper will be just as inconvenient as an iPad. I find the iPad with ozrunways good and have only ever had to reset once. The beauty of the moving map is you can see where you are at a glance in regards to the map so you can maximise your eyes outside time. With proper preflight planning you shouldn't need to look at the iPad too often unless doing a diversion ect but if that is the case the iPad will still be more convenient than the paper. I do still carry an out of date paper map (I was told that is a no no but IMO better than nothing) as a last resort though.
