  1. Well I think it is fairly obvious that a second airport, especially if it can have no curfew, will have a huge impact. For the most part it will be good but obviously if you are near it it can have a huge negative impact. There is no easy solution as far as I can see. It is a win for the majority but sucks for a few.
  2. 973 Ps I think Bex should be excluded from this as he can obviously rig it!
  3. Toe Finger Arm Leg Nose Ear Neck Hmm no censors there.......... Not many options left
  4. I wonder how hard it would be to find a late model phone that was wrecked and salvage the camera out of it? I would trust the optics and quality of a phone camera over a cheap dashcam. I have next to no technical knowledge of what is needed to make the camera work, maybe the extra bits needed may make it uneconomical?
  5. I wonder how hard it would be to deconstruct a go pro or if you could just get the camera part and mount the rest remotely.
  6. Depends on the plane size and the timing of your arrival. I will send my contact details in a pm:thumb up:

  8. (EDITED BY MOD) Anyway I too haven't read any digital SP mags but mainly because I am too lazy to go find them, if they came as a PDF attachment in an email I would be more likely to peruse them. Going fully digital probably makes good economical sense. I haven't subscribed to the physical copy although if it was an option on my membership renewal I would, same story as before, I am just too lazy to go chase it up. I know I may be an extreme example of a lazy consumer but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to 1: send the PDF of the mag via email to members 2: put the option of mag subscription on the renewal forms similar to the gyfts sponsorship thingy.
  9. Yenn I think he had just taken off and from what I have seen even just from this thread he was NOT trying to get back to the airport but rather seemed to be aiming for the road.
  10. I wonder if he was doing a base join? That would account for being further out. He had been touring so wasn't practicing circuits so could easily have been doing a base join. Good job on making it walkawayable.
  11. I have never fueled up at scone but have flown in a few times, it is a nice strip although stick to the tar as the grass to the side of the runway is a bit up and down. I will pm you the contact details of a friendly local down that way who would be able to answer any specific questions:thumb up:
  12. Exactly, I see no reason why multicom shouldn't be used below a set height (say 5000ft amsl or maybe 2000agl) and leave centre to do what centre does best.
  13. Hmm this seems to be turning out to be another episode of 'jobs for the boys'!
  14. Be especially careful if you have an open fuse, a nice size dog could make a bad difference if it got spooked and crawled down to the tail. Unrestrained dogs have caused car accidents so I think it would be wise to have them secured in flight.
  15. I have heard of people giving their right arm for a good photo but that is taking it too far!
  16. After seeing that bent frame I think I would prefer the extra weight/cost of a chromoly cockpit.
  17. It isn't worth the risk Zodiak, for the sake of a phone call to organise an escort you will sleep a lot better.
  18. Ok I was just kidding, I was actually standing on top of a silo.
  19. My latest drone pics
  20. I have just been going through the forum and noticed that I haven't read anything from our beloved Mr Perry for a while, looking further it seems he hasn't contributed at all this week which seems out of character for him. Anyway I hope he is alright, it is a tad drab without his humour.
  21. 1: With what money? 2: Why? Are we having a lot of incidents caused by L1s? Not L2s or higher or LAMEs I have nothing against voluntary hands on courses, which only affect the hip pocket of those doing them, and I do think they should be encouraged but to force everyone through them would be hugely expensive.
  22. Well where are the stats that prove that L1s doing dodgy maintenance are causing heaps of incidents? You need to seperate any incidents which were done by L2s or higher and lames. I think that without a proven reason then a forced practical course is unnescesary and goes down the road of extra regulation for no good reason. I think the most important thing for L1 maintainers like myself is to know the correct place to go to get the right information which is easily covered by the online test.
  23. More to the point how do you take off if your wheels can't get traction! I still remember the look on my Mother in Laws face the first time she saw the bushweels on my plane, it took a fair bit of explaining to get across the fact that the engine doesn't drive the wheels:doh:
  24. Keith I think the very last thing we need now is more complex hoops to jump through! I thought that the elaaa wanted to keep things simple? Yes I think "optional" practical courses should be encouraged but certainly shouldn't be mandatory. I think the online l1 exam is a reasonable fill in measure. I certainly would not have been happy if I had to do a practical course to keep my l1 privileges nor would the majority imo.
