  1. Yes Nev that's exactly how I felt when I wore my graduated glasses it was just like you falling down stairs, as I said couldn't get used to that no matter how long I wore them.. David
  2. Hi Maj, Have you had graduated lenses before? I had them and I was buggered if I could get used to them, maybe because they were in small frames, not like yours which seem a great deal bigger, maybe I need to go back to the optometrist and try bigger frames with this type of lense. I hate glasses by the way... David
  3. Amazing that these councils don't want to promote business in their shires, maybe the gas companies business is enough for them hey..When I was working in Emerald I spoke to the flying school owner, and he told me that he was flat out all day every day with plenty of cashed up mine worker students....lots of opportunities I think in these areas if the infrastructure at the airfields is built there and ready to go.. David
  4. Well if you ever get some land for your hangars please come and talk to me, I can help you out, I would love to find hangar space myself around Caboolture...very hard to find, I think you need to be in the right place at the right time and very lucky.... David

  8. Yes I started my training at Hemple's Aviation, I knew Barry, he decided to get add Jab 160 to his fleet, so that's what I started my training in, but, that was short lived and the Jab seemed to disappear overnight when I arrived to do a training session, the CFI couldn't or wouldn't explain what had happned to the 160 and told me that I could continue to train there in one of Barry's old training fleet aircraft, they looked to me like they had been sitting out on the Archerfield flight line for 50 yrs, I declined his offer and didn't do any training again for a long time unit I came up here to Caboolture, I might add I am still going ....from what I saw of him (Barry) while I was there he was a man of immense flying talent but also very much a cowboy and man that had to have everything his way and if you didn't, he would show you the door very quickly..he had no tolerace for fools and at times students (I know personally) or authority...but that's just my opinion.. I was always dreading the time where I would have to go up there with him for my check flight, he was scary dude to a student pilot I can tell you..rest in peace Barry... David
  9. Thanks ianrat for the update, do you know where you get all the infomation on maintenance and education etc from by chance? David
  10. I hope you have many years of safe and fun flying in your new baby seb, and have a fun time getting back to your home..congrats David
  11. Hi All, So after reading all of the comments on the alledged wing problems of the 601 XL, I see now there is the "B" version, does that mean that all of the wing issues are now resolved with this aircraft? Does anyone have the latest on this issue please? David
  12. WOW what a great offer...good on you Patrick... that really helping out your mate in need and I bet you all have a great time getting back up here to QLD...well done:clap: David
  13. seb, Looking at what you have to do to get your drifter home in a trailer and how much it will cost you to get it fixed if you did damage it somehow, if it were me, I would take a couple of days of work and fly it home, seem to me a better option, look at it as an adventure and a getting to know you time with your new baby... David
  14. That's why I said computer glitches, nothing is fool proof.. David
  15. If you could take out the human factor out and install a computer that could make every decision for us would that then make it possible to have aircraft, automobiles, racing boats, racing cars anything with a degree of danger in it to stop all accidents, of course not, there could be a mechanical failure or a computer glitch or many other reasons not man made, while humans continue to participate in risky adventures we will always be in danger, we place rules and training that make doing these things we do safer but we will always be at risk.. I suppose without that risk to life we would never have ventured to the moon... David
  16. Good one Keith, now keep hold of your nuts next time ok..
  17. I think I have even seen a telescopic stick with magnet and a very small LED light so you can see what you are trying to pick up... David
  18. Hi Barry, I wish I could help you Barry, I am sure there will be someone here that would love to give you a ride down to Temora...good luck Barry and I hope you have many years left to go to places like Temora.. David
  19. WOW..scary and exciting all in one .. God help us .. David
  20. Hi Sky High, I would love to but I am still in training and I have never flown a taildragger sorry I can't help you, can I ask why you need someone to fly your aircraft around the Sunshine Coast? There are heaps of guys that fly out of Caboolture airstrip that would probably do it for you, just start a new thread and ask if anyone is keen to do it for you. David
  21. Hi Paul, Thanks for your feedback..we will wait in anticipation.. David
  22. Thanks Paul for the update, we all look forward to seeing the next one, I only have one suggestion, keep it priced so that ordinary people can afford to buy one, you don't need it to exceed the speed of sound or have every electronic gizmo you can think of to make it a great little aircraft IMO, from a very personal point of view please can it be designed to have floats fitted... David
  23. Hi Paul, Any idea when you will start manufacture? I think there are a lot of people waiting to see it.. David
  24. Hi Mike, No I haven't gone up there yet, I was hoping tomorrow, but not sure if my meeting is going ahead, I would say early next week, but I will get up there and try and have a chat with Rob if he is there for sure.. David
  25. The Caboolture Flying Club have been talking to council here for while now to get them to release more of the airfield land for a new club house and land for new hangars, not sure where they are with all of that..when dealing with councils the wheels seem to turn very slowlyyyy..talk about reducing red tape..geeeezzzz.. David
