  1. I guess it could be, caught me by surprise and have never experienced anything like it. My passenger liked it and thought I pulled a roll haha!
  2. guys did you look at the Explorer (also a South African cousin) hopefully better performance at 600kg. MTOW. My kit took about 6 weeks to arrive.
  3. You can also get a Mountain breaking wave which occurs about twice the height of the terrain, although very rare. I experienced just that returning to Gawler from Aldinga. Weather was marginal with 40-45 kt gusting winds, I still had more than the required visibility. Briefed my passenger before departure and tracked close to Murray Bridge in case we had to divert. Due to the strong winds I climbed to 4200 to cross the range (1900) on approach to Lyndoch, once clear I reduced power for a long decent to Gawler, as I reduced power with one hand still on the throttle the Bulldog flipped upside down. immediately applied full power and righted the plane. I wasn't quite sure what happend so I studied to get a better understanding of the weather. Found that even airliners have been lost to this phenomena.
  4. maybe they need the honesty box closer to the runway
  5. now that will cost you more than a 100 bucks too Bex
  6. Hi Greg, have a look at the Icon A5 (built in your country), that might get you thinking of offering a tad more that $100. haha! on a more serious note there are a few around, SeaRey comes to mind, they offer folding wings as an option.
  7. thanks Ken I saw it today, grey moment I think
  8. can someone post a pic of the front cover. I stopped getting my mag a few editions ago. cheers
  9. Ahhhh! The pill merry go round. Doctors don’t make any money from a healthy person or a dead person
  10. Welcome Joe, ditto about being a bit late but did you consider a Bushbaby Explorer mk 3 ? I am building an Explorer now. Good performance either end of the envelope. My criteria was, Rag and Tube, Tail dragger and folding wings. after studying -- emailing and even phoning a few manufacturers I settled for the Explorer from KFA Africa, and I'm glad I did as Stefan from KFA is more that helpful. Building has not gone as quick as planned but now that I'm unemployed things should move along faster. I also am GA / RAAUS and presently fly a Bulldog. I plan the Explorer to be under CASA umbrella as long as I can keep my med. which should be getting easier now. I'm sure you will like your Hornet. Cheers Steve
  11. have a look at the Bushbaby Explorer. . . easy to build, great performance and good STOL. saplanes.co.za
  12. My iPad Air is about 3 years old now and since I downloaded the 11.2.1 update it runs like crap!. its slow and most times when searching it will go from 4-5 bars to no service at all. My Nokia N95 at the same time doesn't loose a bar, both are on the same Telstra plan. Makes one wonder if Apple are able to slow the older iPads to prompt customers to buy new. BTW the old Nokia which is about 15 years old now outperforms any smart phones that are in the vicinity and I do travel to some of the most remote parts of OZ.
  13. Hi Stefan, I'm still working on the Bushbaby but of late i haven't had much time spare, wings are finished and ready for paint as you know. the fuselage is near ready just final cleanup of the elevator and rudder mod. . . covering and paint to do. I think you sent me the SA Flyer through Viber, I'll check again and let you know. cheers Steve
  14. I wasn't aware you could use OzRunways for any PPL nav.
  15. I don't think $30 is unreasonable for Air Venture. We run 2 sprintcars and we all pay to get in to the venues drivers and crew (and its a lot more that $30 ) some tracks refund one driver and 2 crew - most times we have 3 crew. My argument has always been "would you charge lets say Neil Diamond to attend a venue where he"s entertaining" I don't think so.
  16. I think your on the money Onetrack, Pilot seems slow with rudder input, and I'm sure the 380 servos aren't that slow. But we can only guess what stress the pilot's going through on finals
  17. shes been doing it many many years
  18. That's cool Landry, my mobile is 0408840288.
  19. Yea true Heads, I guess with all the effort and huge cost of a venture like this there must be a scientific gain somewhere and you gotta admire that. To me and I guess many pilots it appears not to make sense and doubt it will ever fly safely and economically. The one you posted was a bit more sensible which also appears Canadian. And your right pretty clever.
  20. I think it would need a 100 hourly with extensive NDT every circuit Nev.
  21. Looking at the rego it appears Canadian
  22. Aussie ambulance sirens would be the go. Don't know how heavy or bulky they are though.
  23. Do u have a spare seat Scott, don't know if the Bulldog will get in there, then I have to be home. I'm still in the NT atm till who knows when.
