  1. Cessna 40 degree flap go arounds are not easy, even with an instructor sitting next to you, every move has to be thought about. Pretty easy to stuff up. 20 months without flying I need an instructor soon, bloody asic almost due and not even exercised, bfr are out on both RPC and RPL. I need some time, anyone got some spare to sell.
  2. The way some people drive, the last thing they need is a giant rotating sword in front of them.
  3. If they find it is, do they leave it there as a grave like ww2 planes, or try to recover it. I watched a video on History today where they found a us jet that went off a carrier of the Florida coast in the 60s. The cockpit had no visible remains, but the parachute survived. One sailor has come up with footage from the day on a usb now. It clearly shows the damage as it happened, one of the crew’s helmets can be seen in the busted cockpit. His son’s were shown the wreckage and the footage to try and help bring closure.
  4. Is social side changing as well, and will we still all be users swapped over or have to sign up again? this is still my best escape from the daily grind and my only social media that I use.
  5. I watched Juan’s video right through, they did a good job in poor conditions.
  6. In more remote places that could be 20 plus houses. I know roads cost a lot to upkeep, but how practical is a machine such as this. I still doubt they could handle storms and bad conditions any better than conventional helos and fixed wing aircraft.
  7. At least they were well prepared for flight over water and it appears to have paid off in surviving. I assume ditching would not have been pleasant even with no wheels down. well done on a good job.
  8. News said 2 different direction runways being used, so may be an intersection collision, and missed calls. sad for all involved, crew and emergency services.
  9. Hi Bex, I was only just wondering the other day how your prototype build was coming along, then found your post this evening. I hope you are doing ok and getting to continue with it. cheers clinton
  10. Does anyone know if the 2 seat will get a bigger jet or 2 of them for the increase in weight of load, and possibly more fuel? could you build a longer wing and get extra lift Nev is talking about for load and higher flying.
  11. Hi OME have you solved the DAME thing yet, I only just read forum on this. if you have trouble with finding one, Dr Kannerman in Tamworth at Northwest health is good, I was and again are a bit heavy on MTOW, he sent me for a simple test and had no worries about sleep apnoea. I answered questions about falling asleep honestly and it got me a few tests. It seems that working 16 hour days, then falling asleep watching tv in the chair to wind down is a sign of a sleep disorder, not just tired. Doesn’t pay to be truthful on those forms. cheers clinton
  12. Wonder if the bear is thinking “ yum, people spam”
  13. 80k on Cessna was $4500 pa and always went up each year. so probably more. Unless risk is less.
  14. I had a mini version laminated in the 182, tucked into the bracket of the VHF just in front of door, every time I hopped in, list out, check, flip page. Trying to do from memory and little things get missed, might just be the beginning of hole in cheese lining up. I don’t think it made me a lesser pilot by using it, I had the landing checks on dash, my local airport diagram on sun visor back and radio frees of all local CTAFS next to radio.
  15. Isn’t the old adage “ a broken clock is right twice a day”
  16. My instructor told me a story of a former student in QLD buying one and wanting to be checked out in it, he was warned about performance and being a bit of a cowboy, put them in a spin they barely recovered from. He told me that was last time he flew with that guy, due to his inability to listen to experienced advice.
  17. A very good tool to own, I use them in automotive stuff as well.
  18. I had a fight with workers comp over those phone call recordings, I was given help to fill in the forms by their staff over the phone. I gave them times and dates, told them they have the recordings to verify my side of things-oh sorry we can’t find them or don’t have them. If I broke their rules or they had to pay out, I believe they would be found. $8900 dollars later on top of already paid polices - I hat them with a vengeance.
  19. That’s one of the reasons I gave in and sold my 182, it was a big single seater with a thirst for Avgas, I loved taking people flying. My kids got demanding jobs, friends always had something on during weekends. the few I took loved it and it gives you a sense of pride to conduct a flight well with someone to witness it.
  20. I was annoyed with the news stripvacross the screens this morning, it had something like” light plane plummets 1500 feet after engine failure” planes do not plummet after an engine failure, maybe catastrophic failure. This bad reporting scares the shit of of families and friends of pilots, the public perception of us all. there should be some sort of standard these journalists have to use in reporting stories.
  21. First buyer took mine, I think I underpriced it a bit, I had a line up of people waiting for the deal to fall through. even though it was old, everything had been redone except paint and plastics. I figured they didn’t make it fly better and I was always interested on what was outside not in.
  22. Tried a. Few times with instructor, very hard on the arms.
