  1. D I can't see the pictures either. It comes up as a framed rectangle with a black interior with a white X in the middle. It shows this way for all five pictures that you have uploaded. Do you have any ideas how we can see them
  2. I am not sure of the connection between the two parallel topics on this thread, unless CAMIT is an acronym for: Chinese And Middle Indian Transmigration
  3. I almost sense a knock-off Savannah coming on, "available at a dealer near you".
  4. Nice Stoj. I wonder if you're the only Savannah owner Down Under who has a fuel injected engine? I would love a fuel injected Rotax too but they are really pricy so I won't even consider it .
  5. Thanks for your insights so far: much appreciated. Any other contributions/views will also be welcome.
  6. I still have to make a choice: extendable seats or fixed seats? That is still the question. I tried out sitting in an adjustable seat version a week or so ago in Christchurch: I didn't think it was too short but the comfort factor was pretty minimal even fully extended back. But then again, some people say that standard fixed seat is not all that comfortable either.
  7. The use of Loctite sounds like a good precaution.
  8. You could try contacting John Gilpin (JG3 on this forum) who is probably Australia's expert on VGs. Try his website: stolspeed.com
  9. Adjustable Seats or Fixed Seats? that is the question. I need to build an 'aircraft factory' and after that, in a few months, I wish to order a Savannah S kit. However, I am at a loss to know whether to ask for the adjustable seat option or the standard fixed seat. There seems to be various schools of thought. I would like the collective wisdom of Savannah owning Forumites to help me so that I can make an appropriate choice. One negative factor that I have been told about is the adjustable seat option makes the aircraft heavier. Others seem to indicate that the adjustable seat is less comfortable. Others again indicate that the cabin 'cell' is stronger with the adjustable seat option. I would love to hear from people that have (had) experience with both so that a proper comparison may be made.
  10. I suspect we are. People add a stiffener here and add strengthening in selected places. Then there are multiple layers of paint, large wheels, sliding seats and, when everything is added up, the project may be 315 kg.
  11. Perhaps ICP themselves are gearing up for a gradual change to non-steam gauge panels? This picture is from the latest Savannah S brochure:
  12. Some interesting pieces of advice in here!
  13. Undersized holes like you describe make for an 'interference fit' (this is how a self tapping screw or coach bolt works) but this works against the 'clamping fit' that is desired in the fuel tank. Your explanation sounds pretty reasonable and it seems very likely that this is the root cause of the troubles people are having.
  14. That is the most negative comment I have ever seen you make Marty. Because this is so out of character, my assumption is that you are planning to finish it ten years before your retirement.
  15. What year model did ICP introduce the new fuel tank filler fittings?
  16. That side panel swap sounds like a good idea Steve!
  17. This is a good thread to book mark as Bob has placed a lot of valuable information on the various threads. Well done Bob.
  18. Hi and MajorTom. It's great to see another Savannah builder on this forum. I have seen a German Savannah blog once which, loosely translated meant "dream of flying". We hope to hear and see more of your build. (edit: the site mentioned above is: Traum_Vom_Fliegen -if you go this site, there is also an English version you can select)
  19. I wonder, as OME suggested, it is also: 4. a great social site for like-minded aviation enthusiasts. 5. a fantastic forum where aircraft builders encourage each other and share valuable ideas and techniques. ? I also believe that, for less than a dollar a week, getting a first class membership is worth considering for those who have not thought about this yet. Fifty dollars per annum is money well spent. Regards, eightyknots
  20. It's a good idea to buy used slats> I am sure there are plenty around the place with many Savannah owners fitting JG3's stolspeed VGs. Well Marty, that is one pesky bit you won't have to build yourself.
  21. Perhaps turn the camera upside down next time you take a photo!
  22. I would like to know whether AluPrep is worth it too. Some people say it is dear as poison. Other say that AluPrep is likely to poison the aircraft builder. Most of the comments about AluPrep are not really all that positive.
  23. That is the first I have ever heard that the S is heavier than the XL! The icp website shows (in the specifications section of the S and the XL) that both aircraft are 286 kg. I had always thought that the rounded S fuselage would take less sheet metal on the surface but a bit more in the internal structure and that the two must balance each other out.
