  1. Yes the Big ones that fly. Scorpions ARE for the desert. Plenty of sandfly's near the shore these days especially after dark. Nev
  2. Smoking is a dying habit. Nothing going for it at all. Nev
  3. More likely to get in your boots IF you leave them outside the tent. It's a Territory thing. Nev
  4. That quote was COMPLETELY out of Context. Nearly 8 Months ago on a completely DIFFERENT subject. You are not fair dinkum and we are off topic to boot. The wheels on water trick is probably more of a quick reaction type of thing. A motor cross bike can be ridden on CALM water if it's going fast enough. Nev
  5. Are we talking about evolution? Nev
  6. How and where does that happen? Nev
  7. If you don't survive to breed your gene pool ends. Nev
  8. A lot of plastics go brittle with age and sun exposure. Nev
  9. It's a thrill seeker addiction. Loving DANGER would be a regressive gene, for certain. Nev
  10. Depends on how much your ego drives you to look clever. A good/safe/clever pilot is one who never gets himself into such a situation as requires an extremely good and also lucky Pilot. Nev
  11. I'd be surprised if it flew well on one engine with the other not feathered. Lots of drag and mass on one ULS with a fair bit of rudder input. It's at tiger moth speed . Plenty to see at low level. Unequalled vision. Nev
  12. Not at all. I used to grow wine grapes, and I always say wait till the enquiry is over before reaching conclusions . Nev
  13. I don't engage with the Rumour Mill. what ever name it runs under. Life is too short. Nev
  14. Nothing wrong with what comes Off Grape Vines. Nev
  15. I can't recall anyone having a problem with that aspect of things. Just keep the weight off the nosewheel is the Main "Thing". Nev
  16. Makes the Auster flap set up look good. Nev
  17. It wouldn't be shorter. A power on approach is safer at lower speed than a glide one and a good flap will definitely lower the stall speed. When power is cut, the draggier plane will decelerate quicker and not float much. You also have much more control of your touch down point. Nev
  18. You should be a bit more careful how you express YOUR opinions of Peoples contributions HERE BrendAn. Despise Rotax ? Pretty Libelous and not really called for PERSONAL attack. Not the sort of thing one should have to put up with on a Forum. where FACT should count. This is also a very public forum and I certainly don't like what you have just said . Knock it off Eh? Nev
  19. V belts are not going to work in this sort of stuff. You ignore the Main Point of my post. The first sentence was simple enough. Yes or No. it was also general. Nev
  20. Are you confusing Mitsubishi with Kawasaki? Reduction gearboxes are NOT simple. With a largish Prop you have a GEARED Flywheel. Like coupled crankshafts Generally a BAD idea. LONG crankshafts? Bad for torsional Vibration. Likely to have a few "Never use" RPM settings. Nev
  21. I would like to think some support is there for these aircraft. Nev
  22. A parallel thread then needs a locknut but that doesn't guarantee a seal either. and takes up space. All too fiddly. An O ring to be safe has to be in a recess. Doesn't that return line have to be at a specified angle and diameter.? nev
  23. If they are shouldered, just vary the copper washer thickness. I don't trust fibre. Nev
  24. I've clocked Emu's at 45 Kms. They have long legs. Nev
  25. They don't use just a simple relay. It includes windings reacting to the voltage as well as Current flow, all spring tension adjusted, and it modulates by opening and closing the Points . Some times a resistor is also across the Point to minimize the current change. A cut out was used as well to prevent reverse current on shut down. Later Diodes do the same thing. They need cooling.
