  6. I read a book about the flying doctor Clyde Fenton out of Katherine one sunday landed in the main street for a drink at the pub, the cop did not know what to charge him with, but told him to get it out of town, the cops blocked off the street and he flew it out.
  7. I have the old vertical sight glass with restricters and the fuel dose not bounce around in my J160 when I built it, with the plane level I put 10lts in each wing then set the clear measurement transfer at the 10lt mark so now I have a known amount of fuel in the tanks, in flight they show 10lts less because of the attitude of the aircraft.
  8. John, I cruise at 100 - 104 kts
  9. Welcome to the forum John, I own a J160 and flown it over most of Australia on holidays with no problems, just that the engine and has to run very cool with the CHT just into the green scale for trouble free running.
  10. In my training the CFI turned off the engine in a jabiru just as I turned base, it got my attention real quick just how much it changed the flare and touch down point. Years later on a holiday trip the engine stopped at 6000ft, that training assisted in the decision making for a safe landing.
  11. ianboag, check the flap hinges for up and down wear where the bolts go through the flap horns, I had to repair a J160 here for worn holes.
  12. Out 5 aircraft park there yesterday for morning tea, heard a noise, looked over to see it go over on its back as a willy willy came through. Lesson, in summer even for any stop tie down, but who would have thought that would happen, the plane is a total write off and uninsured.
  13. This should be reported to the ATSB, from your report they may not have even been on the local radio frequency for the air port.
