  1. that doesn't make sense because they would only let you use your own ac after an inspection and annual. what difference does it make if the instructor is beside you in their plane or yours.
  2. yes but where is it in writing. i know a great instructor that has delivered xairs all over aus so that is not a problem. if i had helped the builder for a couple of hours i would be allowed to use it . it just does not make any sense. i have to be missing something in the manual but i can't find it. on the xair australia website micheal coates stated that if you buy a 19 reg used you become the owner builder and can use it to train yourself.
  3. i have argued with them before about this. i want to know why i can do all the endorsements in it but not finish my solo training. there is nothing that i can find in the manuals.
  4. can anyone tell me why raaus won't allow me to train in my 19 reg xair yet they are happy for me to do all my endorsements in it. if i was the owner builder or helped in the building of it i would have been allowed to train in it . i know its nothing to do with the safety of the instructor because he is allowed to go on xcountry nav exercises in it. it can only be protectionism for flying schools so they can profit off their own aircraft which i understand but the trouble is i only want to fly slow rag and tube ac but schools only have 90 kn plus sleek machines that appeal to students that want to go on to bigger and better aircraft. i can't be the only one that wants to fly just for the enjoyment of it surely. last night i spent hours trolling through the raaus manuals looking for this rule but i can't find anything at all. i am wondering if that office in canberra just make stuff up when it suits them . i am going email as many of the hierachy as i can and ask for the section of the manual that rules against me because i can't find it.
  5. what else would you do. you are confined to a 25 mile radius of the aircrafts home base.
  6. hi don, have you looked at the anr headsets in the shop on this site. they are not much more than the kit you are looking at.
  7. did they run out of money before they got to the wheels. it would look funny seeing 3 wheels flying around.
  8. same plan as me. get the rpc then get into my ac for the rest. i can fly the xair no problem but not allowed to train in it because of raaus rules forcing us into flying school aircraft.
  9. i actually felt more comfortable in jabirus than tecnams. i like the manual trim. in the tecnam because the electric trim is so slow your halfway around the circuit still trying to sort it out . admittedly i don't get enough regular flying to remain current.
  10. modern gyros would possibly be the safest aircraft although limited in what missions they can do.
  11. that was 2021 when you got the single seater. time really does fly.
  12. on my list. hopefully the next one.
  13. exactly. i have flown a yellow xair. a red xair and now an orange one.
  14. you keep coming up with fixed wing comparisons. no one is arguing that. we are talking heli accidents. and i do have extensive helicopter experience. at school i did a weeks work experience sweeping the floor at the esso heliport and i walked past a sikorski gearbox 5 days in a row. what more do you want.😁
  15. the statistics are available, you can look them up . when i say pilot error maybe i could choose a better term . i mean accidents that are not mechanical failure. like the seaworld and the washington accidents. both collisions.
  16. i was told i was talking bs by a member who hunts facts but what you said here proves the statistics i found would be correct. choppers rarely crash and if you took the pilot error crashes out of it i think they would be shown to be extremely reliable.
  17. I was replying to red not you.
  18. i live in victoria, australias only communist run state.
  19. They can get really cranky. I find it's much more relaxing just to turn the radio off and land after a couple of circuits . There is so much runway at Tullamarine the xair hardly needs any.
  20. if you wait til late may / june the weather is nice there.
  21. understandable. haven't been in that situation myself .
  22. How often does that happen. If we listened to you we wouldn't leave the house and definitely not go to northam
