  1. Wot's a 23- rego then? 19- is a kit 24- factory built 23- ???
  2. and so, in the theme of this thread, and in the spirit of christian forgiveness for all those wrongdoers who don't know any better....................... ......... .......
  3. Been there - Done that - dont recommend it, actually. The weight comes back on eventually
  4. Can you tell me what your CHTs on all cylinders were then? And what about your oil temp?
  5. Hi Seb . Yes, I think the plate pushes the air under the engine, limiting the mixing with air from the exhaust from the ram air ducts. I'd like to claim it was all my own work, but really I was just following ideas in Jabiru's cowl airflow diagrams. In the winter just finished,I had to restrict the oil cooler air intake,as the oil wouldn't get hot enough. However, the restriction didn't seem to affect CHTs, so it seems like the plate is doing its job, keeping the flows from the cooler and the heads somewhat separated. When I get around to it, I'd like to completely separate oil cooler airflow by ducting, but this plate worked so easily, I don't think i'll be doing any further changes any time soon.
  6. Hi Derek. Forgot to post the link to the fotos on this forum showing the plate - The idea is that is directs air down under the engine, and stops it mixing as much with the air exiting after cooling the heads, allowing a better airflow past them. Works well for me, but YMMV. Oil Cooler plate fotos
  7. Hi Derek. Best thing I ever did for temps was to put a thin aluminium plate between the oil cooler and the silencer. It lowered oil temps (approx 90 degrees ATM), and as a bonus, lowered my CHT temps consistently by 25degrees
  8. Watch this video to see how it's done https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAdCt6qgj9k I suppose a CRI CRI isnt what you'd call full size, but seeing it can carry a person.....
  9. zennioptical.com I have been buying glases from them for 7 years or so. Latest pair is multi focal, transition (auto darkening), approx $100 including postage(or more, depending upon frame) Load up your prescription on the website, and you're good to go. Work just fine, and I can wear them all the time, inside or out - no problems flying or landing.
  10. Sooo, according to the CASA website, you can fly without an AVID, but you need to have submitted an application for an AVID or an ASIC to operate an aircraft. And, Before issuing you an AVID, CASA must be satisfied that you have an operational need for the background security check. That means you need to have a CASA flight crew licence and a current medical. CASA will renew your AVID if your medical is being renewed (Your AVID questions answered | Civil Aviation Safety Authority) Does this apply to RAA or only to CASA issued flight crew licencees? If it does apply to RAA, it would seem a number of RAA certificate holders are in breach of some regulation or other
  11. Ah, after thinking about it, I went cold on the idea
  12. Sounds just about perfect temps (80 - 90 deg C) to me. You need those temps to remove any water that's condensed into the oil when it cools after running. They are the sort of temps my Jab 160 / 2200 oil runs at, and I wouldn't want them any lower than yours.
  13. Surely you mean BIGGER kegs faster - I cant see the point otherwise
  14. Casa requirements (Part 61) are here If doing the non-integrated (ie 200 hour) CPL course, minimum of 100 hours as PIC in "an aeroplane" (ie RAA aircraft) , minimum 20 hours cross country as PIC plus dual training etc. HOWEVER, For the 150 hour integrated course, 70 hours minimum as PIC but "flight time must be in registered or recognised aeroplanes" - ie NOT RAA Just been through this with my daughter, and the information on the CASA website has conflicting information - some is pre Part 61, some post Part 61
  15. Don't know whether they are allowed or not. However, of a power bank test. Of particular interest is the temperature the components get to when running a 2.1 amp (eg iPad) load. At about the 15 minute mark, he examines the component temps, and they are WAY too hot for me to ever think of putting a powerbank in my aircraft.About 120C to 140C. I would make sure that your particular powerbank doesnt reach those temps before flying with it.
  16. A Napier Deltic is the beast. It was a three bank triangle, with a crankshaft at each corner of the triangle
  17. Hi Geoff. Attached are a couple of photos showing the (admittedly rough) flat plate that floats between the muffler and the oil cooler. Its attached to the front muffler shield, and loosley attached to the bottom of the oil cooler brackets.
  18. Which got me to wondering,if there is some reverse.airflow into the back of one of the ram air ducts, would extending the rear of the ducts down by a few inches towards the low pressure area help reduce/eliminate the reverse airflow?
  19. Seb. I've just found the doco re my jetting that I installed about 100 hours ago, As I said it was the current Jabiru recommendation for a 2200, 40mm Bing (they have moved away from the economy jetting apparently.) Needle jet : 2.90 Main jet : 245 and the jet needle was also replaced (I only have the Jabiru item number: 4A138A0D) BTW, here are my numbers this morning, with OAT of 21C
  20. and isnt a "pre-owned" (as in before it was owned) car a new car???
  21. No EGTs, Seb. Like you, my ducts are almost identical, and now hearing from you that the pressure diffs are similar has confused me. I'm going to concentrate on the oil cooler airflow now, and see how that progresses....
