  1. Kyle, you may have said this earlier, but can an e-prop be legally fitted to an LSA Foxbat? They come with Kiev props which are likely to be unavailable for a while.
  2. Apparently a plane with wings intact will not dive like that unless controlled. Instead it will porpoise due to wing lift as speed varies up and down. In other words, it tries to pull out of the dive repeatedly.
  3. It took a lot of cranking but finally they started both engines. IMG_2405.MOV
  4. Back on topic….. went to Serpentine. There was a major glitch with digital coverage so the vendors couldn’t accept cards. So merchandise sales affected. Queues for coffee took an hour and twenty minutes, we gave up waiting for food and left at lunch time. Saw the Tiger Moth race go out and return, but the program was very slow and really only two aerobatic aircraft with models in between. One historic aircraft flew a routine. Things may have improved after the lunch break. There was a big crowd, so they probably did well financially.
  5. Flew to Nhill yesterday and watched them start both engines on the Avro Anson.
  6. I am driving there. To fly in, you have to arrive by 8.30 and depart after 4. I am told the field is perfectly green and smooth.
  7. More interesting is the story of how early aircraft, pre ww1, flew left hand circuits because of engine torque. Then when side by side seating came along, the pilot sat on the left to observe the circuit. And here we are.
  8. An original AT-115 Victa would be fun. The re-engined ones are over 760kg.
  9. Would have done it, but clashes with the serpentine air show.
  10. You can use batteries on horses but it gets you locked up.
  11. An alternative would be 100kg of explosive and a kamikaze attack.
  12. Hold your arm out straight, put the top of your hand on the horizon, the bottom of your hand is the limit of where you can glide to. Works for normal GA aircraft and their like.
  13. I don’t forget flaps up after takeoff but do forget to turn off the electric fuel pump sometimes, as I leave it on until we’ll established and over paddocks. Once I have forgotten, I can fail to notice it is on for half an hour sometimes, I don’t know why. Am scanning everything.
  14. I am waiting on an order for a new plane from the Ukraine. 🙂
  15. The Alfasuds (from the southern plant) rusted before you got them!

    Junkers F 13

The gold dredges at Bulolo were designed with the Junkers in mind. The largest dredge component was the tumbler shaft and it was sized with length, width and weight to be carried by the Junkers. I have stood on the deck of those abandoned dredges in dense undergrowth, a moving experience.
  17. The best part for me is arriving somewhere hundreds of kilometres from home and thinking I have been in a time machine.
  18. I can still remember the Tiger Moth aerobatic displays at the opening of the Tumut Aero Club in 1957. Must be a bit of a Methuselah myself!
  19. Inspired by Red's recent post of an old photo, let's see other forumites photos. The photo should show a younger version of you with an aeroplane. Though other types of machinery might be OK if they are interesting. My contribution to kick it off.
  20. Looks like a lot of fun. But when I was at Oshkosh in 2014 someone crashed one and was killed. There isnt a lot of shock absorber in front of you.
