  1. Hey all, So i went and opened my big fat mouth today in my Air Law class saying that the difference in simple terms was one was suggested and one required which was different to my teachers view slightly, he said that he didn't disagree but wants me to provide the legislation and i cant find it!! My instructor is the one who had found it and i cant seem to can any one help me!?!? Im after legit info, Ive gone over my Jepps with no success and didn't have AIP's handy but im sure one of you knowledgeable people should be able to help . Cheers
  2. Ok, I may have misunderstood, i had thought that you had implied that this was the cause. I couldn't agree more about the discussion, the more that we can learn from others mistakes the better!
  3. Turbo, although im with you 100% that these things should and need to be discussed ive herd 30+ first hand accounts of the incident at yppf and i still don't know for sure what lessons are to be taken directly from it. I like the idea that we are talking about issues but i dont think we can contribute these to the accident. X2How can you unload a wind and increase bank? And 60 deg is X2 over VS1... But i dont like the idea of doing it power off low level when in my AC ATM that = 24" cruise!
  4. Gunersy beat me to the point about the parallel ops but, it works fine. For instance f 03 is in use 03L on 118.7 is for departures and 03R124.6 is for circuits. So it is quite important to make sure your on cl on approach and it has all been drilled into us NOT to use more then 30* of bank onto final and if it was needed its to be an unstable approach.
  5. AND MORE!! Think they got up to 2300?
  6. no different to a 4 spot, managed fuel load or ballast, if required at all.
  7. The boys said he flew along 03L for his pass then was making a 180 turn back on to 21R when he spun it.
  8. Ive been flying out of YPPF for the last few months, today was my first proper day off in months, i received a call from the boys minuets after the crash but wasn't onsite. My thoughts go out to the family and anyone involved.
  9. "As an ATC you can tell in be voices and actions who doesn't fly very often, as a pilot, when you hear traffic in the circuit making calls for the wrong end of he runway, or forgetting to put their gear down." Are you at parafield??
  10. If you think about it from a commercial perspective aviation will never come out on top as the best choice. Huge training costs, difficulty getting a start in the industry then poor wages and conditions for many years it's really not a viable option. But, I've closed my business and am putting myself through it at the moment because it is what I want to do! My accountant thinks I'm crazy tho
  11. If the insurance company's are making so much money why isn't everyone in the insurance game? I've spent 12 years in the building game only doing insurance work and from what I've seen99.999% of the time they paid out exactly what had been covered in the policy without an issue which meant, the policy holder who had read the policy and made what small and fairly cheap additions to the policy that they required were happy with the result and met their expectations. The others blamed the insurance company's for their shortfalls. I've been on both sides.when I had to make a claim on my bike last year I knew what I was entitled to and what I wasn't and therefore was more then happy.
  12. I flew at Daves in 2008. He charged he same then!! They have been around a fair while, think most of the guys just enjoyed hanging out at the strip!!
  13. Isnt darkness just a lack of light?? and light always travels away from you at the speed of light regardless of your speed, as mentioned above its time that changes, not light
  14. Wonga is a fair way out!
  15. I just bought a set of lightspeed sierras. Bout 700 and the best money I've spent. Personally, for the extra money for the Bose, Zulus etc you don't get much more headset but, just one or two more features.
  16. Might help new sales along...
  17. I like it!! Altho. I think that rather then scrap it it should be lengthened to say 3 years? I don't like the idea of an ac being unused for a long time and still being airworthy.
  18. The best way I had flight explained in simple terms before I understood it was. "Think. Of it like this, if you put 400kmh winds against anything it will "fly" all we do is control the direction" took a fair bit of the magic and trickery out of it.
  19. Wonder how they will go with implementing it all. Cold get interesting when they still get the basics wrong.
  20. The "nose being high doesn't relate to the flight path of the aircraft. You would need the nose to be high to maintain a slow glide, it's more to do with airspeed then attitude. We adjust the attitude to produce the required performance of the aircraft but the attitude isn the performance itself.
  21. Agree with the above posts. I'm from port and its about 10 min drive from town centre. It's pretty short tho. Can't say how short as I've never used it. Try contacting a local scenic tour mob called sky safari they use it and I'm sure they would help.
  22. No more dirty props!! I like it!!!
  23. 0329 UTC would be the time it was first published or amended. Would need to see the notam to see which. The rest is correct
  24. But I do agree that cost. Is what puts young people off. That is until they see that with hard work it is available and worth the expense.
