1. Well in fairness I understand the Temora council put quite a lot of effort and $$ into upgrading things specifically to help Natfly.
2. Oh indeed they are. Stupid is a mandatory course for journalists, also bullcrapping is a major part of the syllabus.
3. Yeah, a bit of tough reality here, but no good sugar coating! It depends upon the position of course, one of my employees has about grade five spelling but it isn't a problem in that he rarely has to write anything. Another tough (sad but true) reality is that Labor is the party of the workers - I always find after a period of Labor there are more workers available and they are willing to work for less = easier to hire and cheaper. This article has a few points also: glass of water test.
4. Welcome Don, I'm sure Florida would be a fabulous spot to fly (with an eye on the weather) and your training / hire costs are much cheaper in the US than in AU..... so all the best, please update us on how it all goes. Not that my opinion is worth much given low hours but as you asked: Hold the stick quite lightly, fingertips even. Make small, sensitive stick movements particularly during flare / landing phase. Work the pedals, especially necessary while landing. Don't be too reliant on the instructor, imagine they weren't there and try to handle it as if you were alone (instructions aside of course). Picture the critical movements and operations in your mind prior to the next lesson.
5. Is that 'aerosol' - as in a spray can? (Not trying to be smart - just wouldn't expect much from a pre-mixed spray can if so, they are mostly solvent with low solids content).
6. "A study by UBC Psychology Prof. Del Paulhus finds that narcissistic applicants are more successful in job interviews than equally qualified candidates who act more modestly. The findings suggest that applicants from cultures that place greater emphasis on humility, including some Asian cultures, may have a harder time landing a job" On a related topic Chinese employee tells me in China they would never tell you that you didn't get the job, really bad loss of face. They just don't get back to you. Similarly if you are casual and they stop contacting you / giving you work it apparently means you have been sacked.
7. They were holding a Monks ball.
8. Totally agree with this, poor spelling or grammar indicates a poor education no two ways about it. I give applicants a detailed application form to fill out on the spot and make it very clear that all questions are optional and no answer is mandatory. It is the first job I give them to do. Had one guy fill out his name, address and very little else - he handed it back to me and verbally outlined his response to the other questions, seems like he couldn't bother writing it down or something.
9. Ah, so if I hide chat there is no zoom to top button?
10. Pretty sure IT people don't need to sleep.
11. "At a secret facility, aerospace engineers are plotting to end the helicopter as we know it, and devising new rotorcraft to replace it."
12. ...OK not sure how to describe this. Assume it's legit:
13. "It’s something you wouldn’t expect to find hidden deep inside the Oregon woods. Yet, that’s where this Boeing 727 is parked — and there’s a perfectly legitimate reason why." He has a website.
14. "In less than a minute, this gadget turns a paper airplane into a drone that can be controlled with your smartphone. The PowerUp 3.0 is a miniature propeller, rudder and engine that will carry your paper airplane a full 60 yards and back with its Bluetooth-controlled components."
15. Any government official always record them. I had a local council inspector try to claim a significant payment was required then he resorted to threatening when I insisted on seeing the regulation (there wasn't one). If I had a recording of the initial conversation he would have been finished.
16. Because I mostly work there. And I'd be glad to leave the Sad-Ass state....
17. Nope, price of land. Show me a small fibre-cement house in Sydney that's affordable (on average single income wage like they did in the 1950's), I'd like to buy it.
18. When married to a party member one needs to stick to the official lines.
19. That's good news for the Nihilists, it's not all doom and gloom.
20. Took a photo? Looks too young to be a rec pilot.
21. I'm being slandered or something....?
22. Nasty! I heard the govt there uses tanks and all....
23. Marty it's a humour thread - you expect me to find and link to an actual forum about the mad madhi?
