  1. My 12 volt fuel setup mounted on an old laundry trolley is used at my home hangar to ease all my refuelling. It draws power from either the aircraft or a battery I have on solar charge that is on a small trolley truck and used also if anyone has a flat battery on aircraft or car. In the field I like the 10 liter at a time to refuel and have a small folding step in the aircraft that doubles as a seat to get a bit higher up to pour the fuel in via a Mr Funnel that is carried onboard. 10 liters in the container allows better control of the pour at arms length. Also consider the wind direction so no spill / splash is carried onto the windscreens, as pouring mogas. Cheers
  2. Thanks Kyle Comm, Garfly and RF. Understand now Stratus is not an output so not a consideration. Just keen re Skyecho performance when left in aircraft parked up in the open when out for the day and inside temp exceeds 45 deg C.
  3. Is the Stratus 3 worth the small extra cost over the Skyecho? I see the Stratus 3 has an internal fan and maybe that will help cooling the unit. I read that they are both ok to 45*C. How does direct sunlight on a hot summers day in North Queensland effect its operation? All comments appreciated. Cheers.
  4. We're not an F1 or Bathurst pit crew so speed not necessary to me. Just ease of filling. On a step ladder hold up and over a 20 litre carry can is a bit uncomfortable so like the pump method at about 5 to 7 litres per minute.
  5. They are good. One is on my list to get to top up tanks to 100% full for certain trips. With the powered pump I'm only filling 20 liters at a time into tanks of known quantity. As usually only flying with partial filled tanks it's never an issue regards possibility of an over fill and spill.
  6. Merry Christmas to all Nynja and Skyranger flyers and friends; hope you have nice festive seasons and receive some nice equipment additions for your flying and nice weather for your flying. Best wishes and fly safe.
  7. Yes my two ends plug together after use and seal closed. Used clear tube to sight fuel emptying back down after stopping flow. Switch is in a comfortable hand grip. My images are old and will update the images. I recon that yours would be improved with a 90 degree elbow at end to improve location into fill port.
  8. Aeroflow Red, Black is a faster pump rate but to me speed is not every thing and can contribute to a spill situation. 20 liters in 3 1/2 minutes. Have a toggle switch on a handle on a meter lead. And 90 degree elbow at filling end so it rests on rim of Mr Funnel. Takes both 20 litre plastic jerry cans and the jug type in image. I hold the switch in one hand and the fill end into the funnel with the other hand.
  9. This is an image of what I use. Voltage from aircraft or separate battery. Works great for me.
  10. Merry Xmas Franco; have nice time.
  11. My belief is that RAAus should be in a position to identify contributing factors of incidents and accidents (or up skill to have such ability) in a manner that does not hinder or hamper the investigation by the lead investigator (Police) and pass the findings of primary and secondary contributing factors to members to enhance safety.
  12. They could invite RAAus to undertake an investigators course. When I did mine back then there were Rail, ATC, Airline, Marine and Aviation including two from Dubi airport. Maybe RAAus has partaken in a course over the years.
  13. Could you have used a liquid thread seal like Loctite 577, 567 or similar.
  14. Agree, had started to write same, thanks. Where we get a hint is when airborne with moderate crosswind and no correction made into wind you drift the direction the wind is blowing to. Usually experience this early in learning when the conditions exist.
  15. Scat hose hookup issue??? Usually two outlets on muffler shroud to two places Cabin heat and Carb heat. Just a guess, Cheers.
  16. Thanks for the model and I read the carb and also cabin heat are listed as an option; therefore a preference choice of the buyer. Cheers.
  17. Thanks, all good. My experience with carby ice was my first flight in the Ca21. Mate took me up he had forgotten about the carb ice pull for on. On downwind engine spluttering and full throttle even could not maintain height, let alone climb. Made it back onto strip. In those days there was a gate across the strip for when drag meeting on. Lucky it was open as would have left undercarriage on it if closed. Very good lesson learnt for me and him. Cheers.
  18. There is no intent about lies. These posts are to assist people especially pilots. I learn from them and share info. The post is mainly about pros and cons of carb heat to assist a member. My request was about the model Technam and would appreciate the model info. You can look up with a rego check to RAAus and it will give that.
  19. Sounds good, what model Tecnam is it as the current P92's have carb heat. The P92 in my hangar is now up north so can't ask him. If unsure of model post rego and I'll look it up as just curious. Either post details here or message. Cheers.
  20. I would fit a carb heat. I fitted the electric type purchased from Xair in Ireland. Re carb ice been there, experienced that in a Skyfox Ca21 with Rotax 912 80 hp and would never fly with out it on a Rotax 912.
  21. Have a check of the Tecnam maintenance schedule or speak with the maintainer of the aircraft; you may discover that it has carb heat to the intake manifold constant from the muffler shroud. I would not leave a carb heat out of a build. Re carb ice been there, experienced that in a Skyfox Ca21 with Rotax 912 80 hp.
  22. Wow, terrible. I guess Perth is 5 or 6 hours away (not checked distance). Must have been comfortable to do that leg again.
