  1. Ask mod to tidy up some posts as it distracts from your projects progression which will be great help to anyone considering a similar retro fit. Mods can delete unrelevant text and the posters can start another thread.
  2. Thanks mate. I have not viewed the video as yet. Your comments are appreciated. Are you sending to the CEO as feedback. They should pull the presentation and redo. Give you at least a free year's membership as a thank you. May boarder on a reportable matter to CASA re bad flight skills advice.
  3. I placed EVN and ODD on bottom of compass as a reminder.
  4. Doors are an expensive part of hangar cost.
  5. Its more to allow RAAus members to build / operate aircraft up to 760kg MTOW. Some aircraft therefore will be a stronger more robust airframes and others won't, just depends on the brand / model / design etc. The 760 will allow some heavier aircraft into RAAus eg C150 with two seats (there were 4 C150 in RAAus and they had to have one seat removed so only could operate one up. Medical then will be included and if medical is relaxed for certain VH then that will no longer be an incentive to move into RAAus for some. More to it but that's my brief overview.
  6. Looks like the mother in law had been eating too many baked beans and the resultant gas purged has ignited:)
  7. The condition report I am referring to is the RAAus one that is a requirement of transfer of ownership and specifically states that the report does not infer that the aircraft is airworthy or otherwise (TECH form 013).
  8. Sounds ok to me; providing that the prospective buyer is paying for the annual if the seller is not prepared to. The buyer may be being cautious and if the sale goes through, he plans to do some instruction on the aircraft to become current and safe with the type. Can't knock a through check over. The conditions of the pre purchase are between the buyer and seller. Hope aircraft is in good condition and the sale goes through. Some points to be aware of on the condition report form are "If possible a flight demonstration should be performed by the owner or person nominated by the owner .........." Sometimes at time of inspection a flight cannot be made for example heavy rain, wind etc and such would / should be noted in the condition report. And, "This certification does not infer that I consider the aircraft to be airworthy or otherwise." The annual is a good thing as a maintainer will sign for the work carried out. into the aircraft log book.
  9. One of the Old Station ones of interest was that the aircraft got looked at when the public was to be cleared from the area for the air show. As things went one of the Calide Dawson still there used to own the aircraft and as he saw a bloke looking all over the aircraft he when over. Also he was assisting with clearing the area so was to move the guy on. The RAA guy asked if he was the owner and he explained no, but used to be. My aircraft was next to it so I hope he looked at it as should have got thumbs up for throttle lock on and secured etc. The aircraft he was interested in was a trike. He was looking for its engine number etc. The owner told me it was registered with the trike people and it was also displaying RAAus numbers on the wing as he had just fitted the wing recently. My comment to him was remove the numbers as he was compliant with the trike guys and take an image and do before midnight. This he sorted it as soon as reminded. (He probably still has the numbers on still, people can be slack and the numbers are not easy to remove.) I reckon RAA is doing a good job following up on these kind of matters as the trike was not good still displaying old rego numbers when no longer a RAA registered aircraft. The owner said a while ago that he did not hear from RAAus.
  10. Yes Yenn. Thats what Skippy is chasing a SAAA member that can look up and pass on a contact or two. Like RAA list name, location, and contact for L2,3 and 4's. Are you still a member of SAAA? If so, look up a contact and pm Skippy.
  11. The restrictor was a method I read about the remote mounting of the oil pressure sensor off the motor block. I have in mind to do like you have but with a shorter flex hose so I can mount with a bracket onto the radiator as it is supported on four points that are the rubber mounts and therefore much reduced vibration and not far from where in currently is located. I will do a method of a restrictor with it. Noce to see your not that far off have assembly finished and then the fun at the airfield. Cheers.
  12. Thanks Mark understand. Just I hear that people put a restrictor in the adaptor that is drilled say 0.5mm so that in the event of a hose failure the oil escapes at a slow rate. The hole allows the oil pressure through so the sensor picks it up. Best regards Mike.
  13. And the tool to remove and insert; I made mine from two id sizes of brass tube and a 2mm pin to push them out. Brass tube in the size that will slide over the pin to depress the side tangs and allow removal otherwise a bit of fiddling with thin screw drivers etc.
  14. The intent of my comments was for Skip to contact and ask an SAAA member regarding his endeavour to source a W&B person. I borrow the load weights I use from two SAAA people as the share the ownership of a set of 3 calibrated load cells. We work as a group sharing info and I have done w&b in the past. Such contact was to gain contact details to a SAAA member and discuss. If he lived up here I would have introduced him to them. Thanks for you info as will be good for all and all going well RAA will be up and running again regarding w&b.
  15. Plus the earlier comment not supporting the medical requirement change.
  16. Big trip two new tubes, two spark plugs only, two spare exhaust springs, reduce the sockets and Allen keys to only what you want, two spare carb bowl gaskets a spare carb enricher spring, 25mm, 8mm and 1/2" hose joiner and some clamps, also two pins and grommets for ign units as sometimes a pin lets go. My kit a soft tool bag with zipper opening and less than 5kg.
  17. Agree KG &44. I have L2 and WB. Casa issue an authority for suitably qualified persons at $130/ hour to appraise (brief overview). RAA are in the process of have their persons approved back on line. (They will advise all members soon of the procedure it will most likely include a course etc, and maybe current holders just get re approved or do a refresher.) I planned to visit a friend who is a SAAA member and has built 2 aircraft and another underway (all scratch built) I borrow certified load cells off him when doing my w&b. I'll ask him about the SAAA rules.
  18. Find an SAAA VH aircraft owner and they will be able to source contacts for their W&B people from their member services lists. (Don't think you will get joy phoning them about getting an RAA aircraft weighed; unfortunately, I think we still light up as 'FOE' in the Friend or Foe ident). Maybe a long shot a local gliding club will have a Form 2 person that does their weight and balance at the 10 yearly survey times. [May only have 2 load cells - glider only have two wheels:)] I've been a long time out of glider maintenance but would expect their w&b persons are suitable. Over to you.
  19. Hi Skip Was speaking the Jarrod today on another matter re details of E-props on my Nynja (change from DUC to E-Props allm good they processed info and got new registration with E-Props on it within the hour. Emailed thanks to them) ; back to topic. Yes, application with CASA to have all RAA trained W&B persons valid and they are hoping for result back within the next week or so (however no surprise if longer). The new W&B procedure will be a 21 page document and should be advised to members next month. (Sounds good and should answer any questions about requirements and how to do.) Cheers Mike
  20. Do you have a small orifice at the outlet connection of the engine and what size did you drill? Looks great.
  21. Would have been handy many years ago when that dropped piece of paper with BOM on it was found and lead to a bomb alert and responce.
  22. Nice; what is the cost excluding travel?
  23. A way forward in near future would be to track down a SAAA w&b person near you; should be someone close by.
  24. I'm in your camp, have used the mechanical brakes for over 40 years. Legal on certain size trailers in Queensland. Maintenance includes making sure brake disc in good shape and machined surface good condition, pads good, wire length adjusted etc.
