  1. I am not against safety, but CASA safety can be a bit unrealistic, I am not talking access to runway or airshow aircraft but the general parking area. That is why I go, to talk to owners and builders about their aircraft. I'm not really interested in watching another airshow.
  2. Last time I was at Narromine and just as I and young son were planning to sit under the wing, enjoy lunch, watch some airshow, they closed off to the public and owners the aircraft parking area. We were not impressed, could not even wander around the other aircraft as I would have liked either, then it was a scramble to get home before last light. I was planning to go but I won't be going Saturday now. I thought they weren't having an airdisplay! Maybe ok IF you could still access the parked aircraft and look around. Told it was a CASA requirement for 'safety'
  3. Or is the NACA duct actually creating a vacuum? And engine is starving for air? I don't know just a thought.
  4. DWF, we can fly retracts, a friend has a retract sting, there are retract tecnams and a few others like Pioneer 300. I have RU endorsement on my pilot certificate. However I do prefer fixed gear as it is usually lighter, stronger, less complex, and one less thing to forget or to fail. The increase in speed is minimal, if any, over well faired fixed gear.
  5. any one else have a problem viewing website on smartphone? the right hand side of pages are off screen and cant be scrolled over. how much am i missing? aerial photo of airport does not show main apron or taxy way.
  6. you going to have us all going mad
  7. you said you switched wires on the distributors, what wires did you switch?
  8. if the coils are working for othercylinders then they should work for #6.Spark for #6 is leaking to earth somewhere between dist cap and plug on both ignitions.
  9. how did you test for no spark? removing sparkplugs and resting plugs on motor? is it possible it is simply 2 damaged plugs? rare but cant see it can be anything else if all others are working. another thing is to start it in the dark with top cowl removed to see if you are leaking spark somewhere from a lead. actually i remember we had a similar problem it waswhere the leads plug into the cap one lead was just touching carby, turned it in the distributor socket and fixed. spark was leaking from joint in lead and endcap. worth looking at. it was on an engine just come from owner rebuild at jabiru.
  10. tk58 SAAA do not require stage inspections they are only reccommenfded, RAAus have made them mandatory and to be done by L2/L4 thus adding cost and redtape to fix what problem? I do recommend having others look over your work as most would do, but it should be encouraged not forced upon us!
  11. Could be clutch or possibly the adjusting mechanism at fault. Have someone check the clutch IAW rotax manual.
  12. Rankamateur I think you will find that if you started your build before august 2016 that it will be exemt from stage inspections, my understanding.

  14. What prop is on it? A fixed pitch, in flight adjustable/constant speed?
  15. Having stage inspections as far as I can tell, is tech manager's idea, it is not a CASA requirement. There is nobody listening there! Why do we have more regs placed on us for no good reason? What happened to keep flying affordable as far as possible?
  16. Yes I find air shows boring, except if it's Bob Hoover or some other highly skilled flying display(like a STOLdisplay). looking at aircraft and talking to other builders is what I like.
  17. GA got rid of stage inspections nearly 20 years ago!
  18. I wrote emails to CEO, tech man and all board members asking for their justification to introduce the new rules in respect to staged inspections for build projects, the only response was a call from the tech man, who could not give me a valid reason for the change, no one else even acknowledged my email! Member organisation? I don't think so. Very disappointed ! Tom
  19. Nev has answered well and I agree with him. Please do a proper reweigh of the aircraft, the time and cost? is a very good investment. Tom
  20. Worked very well, pilot carried out good forced landing with no injuries. Well done!
  21. Dave I am concerned about your plan to move the battery and the effect on the Weight and balance. I hope you have done the calculations. Tom
  22. Knew a man by the name of StJohn pronounced Sinjin but when someone told me his last name......... Turtle ....
