A Lada around the test track would sort out those who only think they can drive. -

What an expensive mistake! -
Andy, thanks for your input and communication here , I and others I am sure appreciate just the fact that somebody is trying to tell it as it is, so we can understand better why some things are done. Tom

Digital mag? Probably go the same as flight safety mag, much reduced readership. I am of the opinion my membership fees allow for a hard copy of the mag so if it is no longer provided then a reduction in membership fees should result?

Whats your favourite fixed wing recreational aircraft?
planesmaker replied to recflyer's topic in Aircraft General Discussion
1. Slepcev storch, just a good fun aircraft 2.my turbo jab, strong low maintenance airframe, versatile, excellent performance. 3.skyfox, low cost fun -
Yes CASA 'consulting' at its best! Ask for responses then do whatever they intended to anyway, and they say 'after consultation with industry we have decided........'

Fluid dynamics and drag. Amazing

If you can get the savannah to 210 mph it might be worthwhile! Lol -
All pretty ordinary figures. I do believe the jab maintenance manual puts a lower limit of 60/80. I could be wrong, just from memory. If LAME says it could be good next time then run it and do it again and see. If it is inside spec ok if not, find out why not. I wouldn't be flying it! Tom

CASA 292/14 - Conditions and direction about Jabiru engines
planesmaker replied to coljones's topic in Jabiru
Ryan, purchasing VH experimental, maintenance has to be done by a LAME unless you have built a similar aircraft and have completed the SAAA maintenance procedures course. Best to talk to a LAME before you purchase anything. Tom -
I Would like to have a go!...................at the fly boards!

I'll go if it's on. Often thought about an impromptu fly- in at Narromine now the official one is cancelled. It would send a strong message to RAAus if it attracts a bigger crowd than Temora :)

I don't disagree. (Oops a double negative! my mother would not be impressed)
-
Not according to Rotax.

I don't think you understood Maj, the difference is the new heads now have the sender unit immersed in coolant and measures coolant temperature where as the heads on your lightwing have CHT probes. With different max temp range for each type! Tom

CASA's handling of this has done nothing in respect of under reporting, rather, it provides more incentive for more under reporting in the future. Legalities aside, who would want to tell CASA anything? If it means heavy hand of CASA will be upon you?

Dazza, we have those aircraft but they are called GA My jab will take 355kg, better than a C172 cruises faster and climbs much much better for half the fuel. Tom

Really tall ship? -
Including experimental aircraft! And it appears Camit modified engines. Way over the top!

18hp quickie yes will do 90 kts but the climb? Very very marginal at about 100'/min. Tom

1/2 VW is a bit heavy for the low power it puts out. I'd look at a v twin with reduction drive with a large slow turning prop. Maybe a future project after the current 3 projects. Tom

The way I see it, as LSA aircraft can't be modified except with approval from factory, Jabs will soon be very limited by the CASA and they won't change their edict. Only thing Jab owners can do is for all owners to call Jab and plead that they allow the Camit engine ( which appears to be unaffected by CASA limits)to be fitted and have their aircraft taken out from under the limits. Of course it will cost owners dearly, but the price of Jabs is only going down down down as it stands anyway. Perhaps Jabiru may listen although don't hold your breath. Seems the only thing that can be done at the moment that will fix the problem within a reasonable time frame. Tom

Furthermore, no mention of how or by what means these limits can be lifted? What criterior do Jab have to meet to satisfy the CASA reliability requirements? What are the requirements? Lots of questions that CASA have not thought through, and no further consultation? Tom
