DreamWorld and the importance of training records.
WayneL replied to old man emu's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I couldn't help thinking, while listening to the news reports on the hearing why their training did not include practical training in actually getting staff to hit the stop buttons etc to observe what happens. They could turn the pumps off and have staff watch what happens to the tubes on the conveyer chain, explain what could happen and have the staff practice using the emergency stop controls to gain confidence in using it without a second thought. With the emphasis on staff immediately shutting the ride down if anything seems amiss, without fear of punishment. Wayne -

What happened with the MTOW change for RAAus
WayneL replied to damiens's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
From what I understand, CASA has offered the weight increase to RAA but the aircraft that are eligible must be lame maintained. Problem is some of those aircraft can be maintained by the owner/ builder now under VH rego, so this discrepancy is being looked at by RAA first. -

Two thick ones are actually power from the lighting coil- go to voltage/ Rectifier. Twin thin yellow to ignition cut off switches. Brown to earth, grey to tacho & green & whites to the Ducati ignition coils. Wayne -

Here are a few photos I took over the weekend. A stiff crosswind gave all pilots a workout and they all did a fine job handling the conditions, I saw no bad landings. Congratulations pilots. The photos of dinner were on the Saturday night in the club hangar with the new sealed concrete floor, ceiling insulation and lined back wall. We had 11 motorhomes visit for the weekend. Wayne.

Loved your video, well done! Can't do many of those things in Australia under our regs! No flying under bridges, no Aeros, no night flying etc. Posted link below. Wayne. Had posted a link but OME beat me to it! So I deleted it.

Informal fly-in.... Lakeside Airpark N Qld...Oct 9th
WayneL replied to a topic in Trips/Events/Seats
The Parasol has only 35 litres available so I haven't got the range of the GT 500 so inland would be a no go too. Heard you could have used a few more drops too! Bought the Parasol down on a trailer. Scott gave me a fly in the GT500, loved it, should have bought it myself but misses said I could only have one plane....had two at the time! Wayne. -

WayneL replied to a topic in Trips/Events/Seats
Best of luck Dave, I looked at trying to fly my Loehle up to Lakeside for the flyin at Easter with no wind legs no more than 1 hr 15 mins but was not able to find any suitable refueling stops between Emu Park and St Lawrence and St Lawrence to Mackay area. Some isolated strips either not maintained or could not find any contacts to check and/ or organise fuel. No problems finding stops up to Emu Park. Wayne -

Shame you are not planning to go west from Cairns over as far as Adels Grove then heading south. Lots of interesting places to see out that way.
