    Trainee pilot perceived to be not of Australian origin transmitting over my airfield yesterday, somewhere. All I could understand was the location, not one word else. So much for the English language requirement. I had no idea who/what/where he was, and didn't get answered, so I bugged out Lima Lima to the south for ten mins til the LZ was clear. (I hoped!)

    Ah, no, it's built-up area. Same animal though, closely settled, populous are mentioned in some RAAus used CAOs though. CAR 262AP Experimental aircraft operating limitations. For aircraft operating on an Experimental Certificate (aka Special CofA) issued under CASR 21.195A, such as E-LSA whether RAAus or VH, or VH amateur-built. CAR 262AP(4) and CAR 262AP(5).

    So it's 100% safe for an RAAus plane to be number 12 in the circuit at 08:14am, but not alone in the circuit at 08:16am. Welcome to Australia.

    The first word, and the last word, must the airfield name. Nothing else, no "all stations", no "traffic", no nothing. That's why it goes pear shaped, people doing whatever the hell they want. CAAP 116-01 v4.2 (this weeks) para 6.3.8. (location) traffic, Aircraft type Callsign position/level/intentions (location) Press button, begin speaking, stop speaking, release button. Dirt dart planes are the worst for fast talking. It's not cool. That's it. Simples! (can't do the Meerkat noise...)

    Well that's interesting. What's the basic science behind it I wonder. Why did it work so well when normal methods didn't? Doesn't appear to be in the Lycoming operator manual. Please report yourself to nearest CASA office (within 7 days) for prosecution.?

I often fly over it, wondering exactly where they flew from, which bit of dirt.

    RAAus have been using low vacant numbers for quite a while now. Magazine is full of them. Nothing shocking about that, CASA do it with VH. Motor registration branches can do it with cars. If the number is not used, it's usable by the next punter. They won't run out until past 9,999 aircraft registered, and with about 3500 or thereabouts aircraft registered at present (was it?) they won't run out any time soon. Nothing to see here, move along.........................
