  1. How's the yachting scene at Kyneton Peter?
  2. Because it is about licences, and licences only Nev, exactly as per the Instrument. Don't read into it what is not there. Afterthought: It actually is giving the sport aviation organisations the power to refuse entry to someone that they might not otherwise have had any capacity at all to refuse. Maybe refuse entry is the wrong term, maybe they could be a member, but not be issued a pilot certificate.
  3. Does this mean a pilot Certificate holder who also holds a Part 61 Licence could have his/her Pilot Certificate suspended if the Part 61 Licence medical was changed or declined in anyway? Fortunately, no it does not. Search the thing for the word "medical" and you will see it is not there. This is about licences held and cancelled (by CASA), it has nothing to do with medical certificates being declined. Suggest a read of the explanatory statement F2019L01204ES that is with it (7 pages of legal mumbo jumbo). CASA Instruments are written to permit, or to prevent, something which is not covered in the normal regulations. Background CASA has become aware of situations in which, after CASA has cancelled under regulation 269 of CAR a flight crew licence held by a person, the person applies to a sport aviation body for the grant of a pilot certificate, which would enable the person to continue to fly the same aircraft the person was flying under the licence. If the person can continue to exercise flying privileges, albeit under the auspices of the sport aviation body, this would in effect circumvent the regulatory action taken by CASA against the person. The directions, issued under the instrument, address this anomaly and other analogous situations.
  4. ZING!!!!!
  5. Double standards is what I see as part of it. Why do I have to have a medical certificate while a mate does not? Exact same aircraft. Surely the aircraft is safe to fly without one, or it is not? RAAus have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is safe, and everyone knows it to be true. (Thanks RAAus members.) Double standards clearly at work. And for what? SAAA participated in many CASA part 149 briefings and at no stage were advised "why are you even here - it won't be available for you." Whether we wanted to go part 149, or not, is a different question that one day would have been put to the membership to decide. Not now, door slammed shut. SAAA member (only).
  6. Start with a look at CASA AWB 02-1 issue 1 - On condition maintenance.
  7. IAGIT. (I Aint Gettin In That!)
  8. Cut to 00:30 for more on the emergency service persons attending...
  9. Here's what the airmaster prop can do:
  10. Mooring it...... it has no doors, the entrance is at the back turtle deck - walkway up between the fins. So I guess he has to back it in onto a beach. Reversing props, no problem. A mate backs out off the beach in his Rans S7. Great party trick.
  11. Michael's new plane is Seabear L65 - a bit different, a one off. It has a 12V coffee maker in the back too.
  12. Does a fly do a half loop or a half roll to land on the ceiling?
  13. I'd like a job as a mirror installer. I could really see myself doing that.
  14. Most wood butchers (like me) are using West System products. Have also used some Bote-Cote products - didn't like the filler power that much. I've just ordered some Epox-E-Glue from Boatcraft Pacific to try out (for models firstly, but I'll use it on the big thing too) Mate is building his fullsize TR.9 using West System products.
  15. How about a SKY BURIAL in Tibet. (google it)
  16. Bajillions.
  17. One of my cars requires 95 min fuel. If I run 91, it does a certain thing that I can feel happening at low revs. I filled up with Shell 98 in Albury the other week, and almost right away it was running like on 91. I genuinely believe I got 91 fuel. It was not a main street station. I normally run Caltex Vortex 95 in it, exclusively. I've been running my Jab 2200 on the same Caltex 95 for many months as a trial - no operational difference to Avgas. But I think I'll be going back to Avgas.
  18. How is it RAAus aircraft are being used for other than recreational training purposes? (training aspiring professional pilots from the get go)
  19. Years ago I heard a tale about a guy who had Mr Sheen'd his Cessna - the whole thing. Looks fabulous. It got so charged with static electricity it played havoc with all the avionics. Plane had to be deguassed (demagnetised).
  20. No transponder required in Class D tower CTA..... so says AIP, eg Albury, Mooorabbbbin... numerous others.
  21. Rollason Beta G-BADC.
  22. Yes, indeed it was about AF, the Senator Rex Patrick(?) motion to disallow (to not approve) the CASA instruction to AF was indeed clubbed to death. Rex had a go.
  23. Good weekend. Thursday a little windy and dusty. Friday nice. Sat rather windy and dusty, with lots of willy-willy's going through, even saw a huge dust tornado out to the north. Spare a though for the rural farmers and communities - I saw zero crops even planted on the drive there and back. Just dirt, dirt, and more dirt. And some dirt. Brought a lot back on my car.
  24. Quick tip: If any of the kits have the molded plastic fuel tanks, check for plastic debris inside - from where fuel outlets might have been drilled out. Friend of mine found a fair bit in his S7S tanks - after he'd been flying a while. (Blocked line) Lucky for him he told me about it just before he was going stick a vacuum cleaner hose in the tank after draining the fuel . NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another friend did that to a Pontiac Parisienne tank years ago. Blew the vacuum cleaner clear across the garage and smashed into a million bits. And he was a newly qualified electrician. Guess he missed the "Petrol fumes and electricity DO mix well" class. He waddled a bit too, after his mother "tore him a new one" for destroying her vacuum cleaner. So check for debris in new tanks before use. You can be happy if find none, and delighted if you find some. Either way, you will know it will be AOK in the end.
  25. What, no Ferris Wheels in Italy??? (Hell, here I come....)
