  1. I might misunderstand the life of an instructor, BUT why do instructors need to wear out their plane doing circuits unless they are trying to work out some issue with the plane? Perhaps he was a retired instructor.
  2. Well have a look at the photo in the link and decide for yourself.
  3. Only 200m Neil, he was well and truly legal.
  4. May as well nap in your lounge room and you know the bed is comfy each night.
  5. Nice taxi Mike

  7. Wasn't a very nice day at the beach anywhere in southern Qld or Nsw, it would have been a bit hairy along the top of the ridges, I admire the blokes who flew the search in those conditions.
  8. I have been listening to the tractor radio all morning and I think it was the 10.00am news referred to the search in the main bulletin and had an update that the pilot had been located in the wreckage, deceased. RIP fellow aviator.
  9. That's the spirit. Leonie says the same, with all the weight I have lost she can afford it!
  10. Remember if you keep adding stuff eventually it won't leave the ground...
  11. Isn't that caused by the radio priority in the Xcom?
  12. I have measured an 18m landing roll on a VG. It landed across my airstrip! http://www.aerokits.net.au/ the video is second to last at the bottom of this page.
  13. I don't think this is a universal problem. I have never heard of it before so some of the must work flawlessly.
  14. Last time I talked to the NSW mob about something with wheels on it, they were not at all interested because the value was greater than $20,000.
  15. There are two little tabs on the inner aluminium part of the flap handle. Reg was here the other day and suggested mine needed more filed off the tabs because it binds a little bit and doesn't lock in the full position unless I wiggle it. Might help yours too.
  16. After what the coroner wrote you couldn't do him much harm.
  17. Put them on last thing. I put mine on so I wouldn't lose them but then decided to install elbows on the inlets so I could mount the tap higher so it was easier to reach with my gammy shoulder, and dodge that angle stringer on the side sheet that usually gets in the way. Had to soften the Loctite with my soldering iron to get them apart. So the labels probably got a bit of heat too but the fresh Loctite is what really did the damage. I had to drill out the elbows to the same bore as the inlet barbs too, otherwise there was a considerable restriction to the flow.
  18. Oscar the link downloads to a 13 pages word document OK.
  19. Did you get the labels as well? I put my labels on then handled them with Loctite on my fingers so now have to get another set of labels because the printing lifted straight off. Take care.

  21. Reg is twenty minutes up the road, you are probably closer to the weight than me, he still has a couple in stock, I will get one when I pick up my radios.
  22. Probably 80 grams BUT it is out in front of the CofG. Don't worry I am going to get it and put it on before I mount the engine. Busy busting hay making plant at the moment. Broke two hay rakes in half over the last week-end. Fixing them will take about the same time it would have taken to mount my engine.
  23. http://www.9news.com.au/national/2016/02/21/07/35/storms-in-sydney-overnight-destroy-at-least-six-light-planes Surprisingly small damage estimate.
  24. http://www.9news.com.au/national/2016/02/20/20/29/smoke-billowing-from-car-fire-near-barwon-heads-airfield "some Twitter users to speculate it was a plane crash"
  25. Oh yes, I wonder what the 2 stands for???
