  1. It's an aviation accident (fatal) so have ATSB investigate and we WILL get a report!
  2. Would like to see the higher weight (1500kg) which would allow us to fly many types. I wonder what the outcome re aircraft registration might be? E.g. Could an old Auster or similar be registered RAAus and then maintained by a L1/L2? If not then a Pilot Certificate holder would be Flying a CASA registered aircraft. I think it will be a long time before we see a higher weight. Mike
  3. Reports now saying wreckage of two ultralight planes have been found?
  4. Welcome Pierre. As Riley said above, tell us a little about your flying. Cheers Mike (RV9A Canadian built and imported in 2008).
  5. Even airlines that have aircraft with less than 20 seats (Metroliner etc) weigh the pax and baggage. Mike
  6. Did Bob Burns at Helidon near Toowoomba sell his GR582? Was/has been advertised for some time. Mike
  7. I think you will find fuel is required for min 1 hour PLUS the required fixed reserve.
  8. Nev, wt difference between O-320 and O-360 (engine only) is only about 10lbs. Mike
  9. Still limited to 600kg MTOW under RAAus registration so can be payload limited based on BEW.
  10. I think that aircraft has been deregistered and is for sale on the members market?
  11. The Super Cub had O320/150hp David. Some of them now have the 160hp or have been retrofitted with the O360 which makes a great Stol aircraft. Mike
  12. Back in NZ in the 60's during the dear culling days we could get the Auster into most strips but getting out again full of carcasses was another story. The Piper Super Cub and C180/185 saved the day. Mike
  13. Yen, you pretty close to the mark with your figures. RAAus say you need approx 200kg payload to be able to register RAA. 2 x 90kg persons plus 1.5 hours fuel. 1.5 hours fuel for an O320 is approx 45ltrs (32.4kg) a little less for a Lyc O235 which is installed in retired racers RV9A. Mike.
  14. Do you mean as in construction method? Hard to understand what you are trying to say at times FT.
  15. Hi Ben, my last 100 hourly / annual for an O320 powered RV9a was $1700. This was a big one as the transponder, ASI, and Altimiter all had to be sent off for bench testing and calibration. Fuel gauge calibration was also required this time. My normal annual is around $1000.0o or a little less. Mike
  16. Hi Allan, I wondered what had happened to the cheap two seater. We now know and thanks for the update. We will all look forward to progress on the new project. I was holding off on drinking that slab you awarded me when back in Kununurra when I came up with your wing / fuse fold design. Happy New Year Mike
  17. Owner has now posted an answer in the Ebay advert re TTIS and engine type etc after I asked the question. Now not interested!
  18. Geoff13, you have started a very good thread. I have found most sellers know the MTOW however most do knot know the aircrafts empty weight hence how can they know what payload is available?? Another interesting question is that of air speeds. A lot of these fairly high cruise speed (100+ Kt) European designs have a very low max structural cruise speed. Some owners don't appear to understand the significance of design max structural cruise and manoeuvreing speeds when asked.
  19. Kaz3g, why did you give these figures a "funny"? The numbers quoted are correct.
  20. Time frame to see something? Might be just what some folk are looking for.
  21. About thirty 3300 and four 2200 CAE engines. Don't know how many Jab badged engine upgrades.
  22. Jabiru now imports many components from China for Camit assembled Jabiru engines.
  23. Excellent idea and not too soon in coming. Would like to see you post some of your ideas on the subject. Mike
  24. I believe you only need a class 1 or 2 medical for flight above 10,000ft for the RPL otherwise the road transport licence(aviation) is ok. Mike
