Pilot dies in light aircraft crash south of Townsville
ave8rr replied to Robbo's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
RIP Ross, was only talking to you on the phone last week and had a good chat at the Bundy RAAus AGM. Condolences to your family. You will be missed Mike -
Scott, IF RAAus do get 750kg MTOW, I am sure there WIL be rules in place regarding maintenance. I can't see CASA allowing pilot /L2 maintenance for these aircraft. Even SAAA builders have to do a maint procedures course so they can maintain the aircraft they built. RAAus will have to be careful in what they may loose in trying to get a bit more weight.

Engine failure Jabiru J430 Queensland 19 Nov 2015

Saw the aircraft in Bun Registered to a Kangaroo flat Vic address since Oct 15. Aircraft was flying at Bundy when I was on accident day. -
So Reg 6.55 (2) appears to be what CASA are using to state a security check (AVID/ASIC) is required to be produced at a ramp check. So are RAAO issued Pilot Certificates exempt from this regulation? If not, then all pilots should have at least an AVID (ASIC if operating from a Security Controlled airport)????
-
CASA advise is that the minimum of a valid AVID will need to be produced during ramp checks. Where if any is the exemption for RAAO issued Pilot Certificate holders to not have to produce the AVID/ASIC at a ramp check?
-
Can anyone out there explain WHY a CASA licence holder needs the minimum of an Avid (5 year security check) when a Pilot Certificate holder requires NO form of security check? Mike

Have a good trip Mick. Didn't know you had shifted here yet? Did you sort hangarage?
-
Correct me if I have it wrong, but I thought #19 registered aircraft did not need MARAP as they are amateur built equivalent to experimental. I may be totally wrong. Mike

Hi Kamloops and welcome to the site. Click menu up in top left corner, then click forums, move down page below "general forums". Towards the bottom you will see about 20 ultralight specific types and a bit further down there are some GA types. Hope this helps. Cheers Mike.

CA22 or CA25? The 25 has a higher MTOW (520kg) same as the Gazelle. I think there were only about 10 built. Mike

Mark, obviously they didn't go by the surname initial as I got my log in about 3 days into the migration. Yours should of been same day?? Cheers Mike

[07 Nov 2015] Childers Fly-In Breakfast (Childers Airfield)
ave8rr replied to BJFly's topic in Trips/Events/Seats
A very enjoyable morning. Weather was kind and breaky great. Many thanks to the Childers Flying Club team. I will return in 3 months. Mike -
New link. https://www.raa.asn.au/ Then click "The Classifieds" top right hand corner. This link will take you to Aviation Advertiser who now look after all RAA adverts. The first few listings are usually "featured display listings". Move down to standard listings. Mike

jetjr, do you know how the GST is going to be collected on overseas purchases of less than the current 1K? Will Customs send an invoice for every parcel arriving from overseas? Hardly worth it for say $2 on a $20 dollar purchase. I buy very little on line but can't see this working on small amounts??
-
DrZoos, many thanks for your suggestions. My IPad is working normally. The phones which will not connect are both Android (Samsung and HTC). Both give same report i.e. cannot establish a secure connection. Both phones operate normally on Facebook, and all our other https sites. Will keep trying including a Google search as you suggest. Again many thanks. Mike
-
Thanks for info. Tried both addresses straight into address line. Internet connection is via Mobile broadband as we do not have landline ADSL in this area. Get a message "cannot establish a secure connection". Will talk with RAAus next week. Many thanks for your suggestions. Mike

David, I have had no issues getting onto the new web site (same address as before as far as I can see) with the home computer (windows 8) and my Ipad 2 however, I cannot get to the website with my Smart phone (HTC) nor with my wifes smartphone (Samsung). We have cleared all Cache and history on both and even tried typing the web address in but get pretty much the same as you are getting. Also says something about not being able to establish a secure connection. I know the address is http(s) etc etc. There must be some security issue?? Mike

Looks like Vans are in trouble also. Can't see how Vans are responsible for a builders mistake/s http://kitplanes2.com/blog/2015/10/vans-aircraft-sued-for-35-million-over-rv-10-crash/ Mike

I was at the AGM here in Bundy and nothing was said that I remember about the members market going to Aviation Advertiser. First I knew was when an email came out the Tue following the meeting saying that a deal had been done with Aviation Advertiser. Looking at the listings (and assume all RAAus listings will be under Rec/Sport aircraft) on that site I am wondering if new listings will be the first to appear?? In what order will they (adverts) appear in Sport Pilot if at all? On another observation re advertisers in Sport Pilot, I note Mendelssohn have not placed an advert since the mag has gone to a digital version. Reduced audience I wonder? Mike

Kasper, NZ also operate as you have described. Mike

September Sport Pilot PDF is now on the Website! 18 of month and still not available to down load........

15 Sep and the Sep issue of Sport Pilot is still not on the RAAus Website. Called them to ask why and was informed that hey had "not got around to it yet" been too busy? Guess they want more to subscribe to the paper version.
