Medical issue or not, it would be good to hear the facts from RAAus re the 95.10 Student / Pilot Certificate? issue. That would put straight some of the posts on this thread.

VH to RAA. Very straight forward IF there is a current GA Maint Release at time of transfer. Apply for Rego, complete a form or two, Apply Rego Numbers, submit photos.

From the latest AvWeb site : "Wing Loss Possible In RV Crash A Van’s RV-7 that crashed on New Year’s Day in Northland New Zealand, killing both occupants, has caught the attention of the RV community because of the possibility of structural failure. If the investigation confirms the witness accounts, it will be the second suspected fatal in-flight breakup of an RV-7 this year. A similar aircraft crashed in Arizona in June and local reports suggest that plane came apart. The New Zealand builder/pilot Dean Voelkerling was an experienced and respected EMS helicopter pilot and was well-known in the local aviation community. Local media reported eyewitness of a wing “spiraling” down separate from the stricken aircraft, which crashed into a field. While it is common for early eyewitness accounts to be inaccurate, video and still pictures released from the scene also appear to show the absence of the aircraft’s right wing. This tragedy will surely be watched closely by enthusiasts and authorities alike as the investigation unfolds, especially as it comes on the heels of a fatal accident of the same RV-7 model this past June in Arizona, which also presented early indications of an in-flight structural failure. More information will follow as the investigation continues."

This is an Aircraft Wrap supplier. Just one of a number of companies supplying this type of product. http://aviationwraps.com

I am advised that the Accident RV7 had been covered in a shrink wrap type coating instead of being painted. I had not heard of this technique but is supposed to be popular?? Appears this shrink wrap may have lifted and caused a control surface flutter leading to the inflight breakup?

I am advised by a NZ mate that the glider is the Morgan Cheyenne. Not sure if it was Gary flying it. He has set up business in Blenheim.

Pittsworth and Millmerran airports up for lease
ave8rr replied to fly_tornado's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Sounds like costs at those aerodromes will go up. Whoever leases the aerodromes will want a return. Hangar ground lease ok by me. Landing fees most probably? Seems the Councils are all going this way now. -
It isn't CASA who make these rules. It's the Office of Transport Security who make the rules and are responsible for enforcing the ASIC/MSIC etc. Best to direct concerns to the relevant Minister. Casa under the regulations do require a security check (AVID) for all flight crew licence holders each 5 years as mentioned in a previous post.
-
Did my Renewal Application via The CASA web site yesterday. $256 from memory. Now need Birth Cert etc for application and a face to face with original docs before ASIC is handed over. I still wonder why an ASIC is required outside the "Ramp" areas of a security controlled aerodrome??

BASIC CLASS 2 - PRIVATE PILOT MEDICAL ANNOUNCED!
ave8rr replied to coljones's topic in Governing Bodies
CASA talks about the Commercial Road Medical but have not said how (or if) it will be modified along the lines of the RAMPC with extra (Aviation) boxes to tick. I am at a loss to understand why they are calling the medical a "Basic Class 2". Give it a new number/name at least in my opinion. I believe they intend to charge the fee hence not just changing the privilages/validity of the RAMPC. -
BASIC CLASS 2 - PRIVATE PILOT MEDICAL ANNOUNCED!
ave8rr replied to coljones's topic in Governing Bodies
I havn't seen anywhere that CASA wont be charging a fee to process. I know they dont charge for the RAMPC. Like a previous poster said, the detail will tell all. On another note: most DAME will do an ECG whether it is required or not for over 60 when doing a class 2 exam based on my expreience just for their piece of mind I believe. -
Col Jones started a thread on this subject (Basic Class Two medical announced). Mods, can the threads please be combined?

RAAus advises that the missing wing has been found. Will be interesting to find out where the wing failed. I wonder if this wing was the latest version "S" mod? -
