  1. The engineering order for the tiger probably cost as much as the prop, that is what people get miffed about.
  2. As you would know, the DH 82 tiger has to be fitted with the correct propeller or get an engineer order to fit something different. Nowadays RAAus is no different. Same same just different words.
  3. Yeah but the Sensenich may not be approved for your aircraft, then you will need a marup and another $600. 🤨 I miss the good old days.
  4. The RV15 now has a conventional horizontal stabilizer and elevator. Would be interesting to know if it was market forces or aero dynamic forces that prevailed.
  5. I have and fly a single seat thruster, as cheap and fun as it gets. Not a growth segment so it is understandable that it is ignored.
  6. Cut off steel posts or star pickets work. Drill out the top hole and use a shackle for the rope.
  7. For me Airpersonship is about operating in a way that will minimize the chance of my aircraft being involved in a fatal accident. Taxiing on or off the centre line is irrelevant, instructors should focus on the things that matter, hopefully they read accident reports and actually know what they are and pass that wisdom on to the new pilots.
  8. My friend has one, it is a nice aircraft. Empty weight seems a bit bit low at 200kg.?
  9. I have not read about this cash before, got a link? Cash would have been handy to get a motel in Coolangattar and fly home in daylight.
  10. Taking out the wall hitting bit it would still be viewed by most thinking pilots as a very risky stunt taking off over the crowd in the grand stand. Risk is about the chance of something happening and the consequences of that. Very low chance, very high consequence in this case. The ATSB report will be very interesting re approval etc.
  11. I know a good tig welder however I would favor the hose clamps because this will allow the aluminium to grip the underlying steel? support structure. Many certified aircraft cabin heat muffs on the exhaust are done this way, PA28 etc. Just allow some over lap at the join.
  12. So this sounds like an exhaust augmented cooling system? One option would be to roll the desired material and secure with hose clamps or tig weld.
  13. Why not scat hose as used in aircraft?
  14. Hi Bex, Is your thing flying yet?
  15. A Thruster carefully prepared with some inflatable mattresses in the wings has been demonstrated to work in very hostile conditions. The only successful ditching in Bass Straight?
  16. Hi Moneybox. I need some of these for a Thruster, were did you find them?
  17. DA40 has had stall related fatal accidents. The quote is just sales BS. https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2017/aair/ao-2017-096
  18. After market turbocharged, supposed to be 135hp. https://www.aircraft.com/aircraft/237212267/vh-ldv-2013-morgan-aeroworks-cougar
  19. It is understandable why this lay person would say this. Aircraft circling will have a changing engine note due to the doppler? effect. It doesn't sound like a normal Aircraft flying past.
  20. Seems likely given the flight track and the flat nature of the terrain. Can't see a strip there so maybe a moose turn stall spin. We learn the aircraft had changed hands only very recently. Wind out of the north at 20 knots may have been producing some turbulence. Sad situation.
  21. The published stall speeds are very unrealistic for an aircraft with 800kg MTOW and only 110 sq feet of wing. Could it lead pilots to fly at unsafe airspeed during manoeuvring?
  22. Tool was made of plastic, most likely to prevent engine damage.
  23. I have always just used my Samsung phone charger for the SkyEcho2. 2 amps at 5 volts out put. I only charge it at home.
  24. One way to know for sure if your transponder is transmitting adsb is to disable to transmit function on the SkyEcho2 and go flying. If your SkyEcho2 can't "see" your aircraft then you don't have adsb working. In my RV with the uAvionics tailbeacon X / av30c combo and SkyEcho2 set to receive only I can see my aircraft call sign and altitude displayed constantly confirming correct operation of both the in and out function of adsb. Very nice.
  25. If the hydraulic fluid is lost due to leak the manual backup on those is as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike. Gear cannot fall free. Cirrus got it right with fixed gear.
