  1. No idea Neil, but too late to complain about the result if it doesn't go the way they want - can only ask everyone to indicate their opinion. I suspect you will be on the money, so no I'm not betting.
  2. I hope everyone has submitted their vote (for those not attending). Plenty of debate on both sides but whether your opinion is YES or NO at least vote one way or the other as the outcome for our association is considerable. The more that vote gives the outcome more credibility.
  3. Bit far away for me Tim, but if I get down that way again it will be on the list to visit. 460m is acceptable
  4. Silly political bias, or possibly an attempt at humour to a serious topic adds zero at least IMO.
  5. You can record whatever you want to (including what you had for breakfeast if you like) my point was it is not "required" anything else is a personal choise - at least so far!!!
  6. Daily inspection is recorded on a MR, with no MR requirement there is no requirement to record a daily/ or preflight inspection. Other then for multiple pilot useage/training, I don't see any point in recording useless information.
  7. Unless requested, why would you report clear of the zone?
  8. Too true. Over my time I have had dealings with some very informed individuals who go out of their way to be helpful and then get frustrated by "others" that have been appointed to positions that they shouldn't be in, and the war starts again. Unfortunately with changing directors certain career type individuals just keep their positions.
  9. No arguement Oscar, just an observation, and totally happy to accept the members choise, whatever that be. I have opinions on operational matters that "I" think should be done better and was hoping to have the matters at least discussed at board level - but if it not is to be, so be it, no skin off my nose. I can just continue flying my aircraft (legally) and try to ignor the other matters as I have successfully achieved with CASA for the last 36 years. One can only try.
  10. Oscar Just an observation, I am quite over all the BS, can't wait to see the results of the general meeting. If this is the way members decide, count me out, I'll wait and watch. I've been on a 6 member board and never again (even if I was invited)
  11. Some people, atleast, advocate greater member participation I.e voting and feedback in a member based organisation. Sounds like a reasonable objective. Do you think this is likely with 2 positions for an unknown academic with likely unknown/little aviation knowledge or even exposure? Good luck with that.
  12. Or 3 even, and less likely hood of disagreement, easy. Less worry about pesty member input. Sounds great.
  13. You think. Carry on.
  14. If this gets up - Then why would the directors call an election for 2 and not 4 or is it the case that the 7 mentioned is not going to be a reality? Initial speak was of reducing the board size to 7, now the conversations seem to be all about 5? I don't understand the change of emphasis.
  15. Yes that's it. Each pump can supply more fuel flow then the engine requires at full power (in the 3300set up over 50ltrs/hr. - flow rate can be tested on the ground if you are concerned)
  16. LSA? Many LSAs including my J230 ? (I see now LSA55 - I don't know them, I presume the forerunner to the J120?) If you have 2 pumps running all the time how do you know when one fails - except when both fail. Close to the ground (TO & L) is good, but otherwise ................ Anyway up to you just a couple of points you might like to consider.
  17. Exactly. If you don't turn the back up pump off in cruise you will not know if you have had an engine pump failure which could leave you relying on the electric pump only. Note that taxi and up to about 2300rpm (or more) can be achieved with gravity only, so a check at cruise is necessary to know that you actually have a backup pump in working order. A pilot check of the electric pump is achieved in priming but there is no pilot check of the mechanical pump other then at high power settings - the 2000rpm mag check can be achieved with gravity alone. (I am referring to the Jabiru set up ONLY in this case i.e. With high wing tanks & not the J120 set up)
  18. Aircraft at flyin Ayr N.Q. 1 May 2016
  19. No worries Aldo, I haven't been there for a few years, just the current ERSA still lists it as security controlled. I don't know the legalities of that. As I need an ASIC for other places I go (eg Townsville) it is not a major issue to myself (even though I hate the card not to mention the cost).
  20. I think the main offenders have left or at least gone quiet (although now I think about it maybe I put them on my ignor list as just don't see their posts).
  21. Too true, many/some members have already voted one way or the other, can't change the proposal without calling another meeting.
  22. I think the matter is more "what is the appropriate freq for an area" Remember OCTA there is no requirement to even have a radio so legalities as to what freq you monitor doesen't come into it (obviously unless you are full SAR and that is only available now when you are operating IFR) CAAP 166 has been a hotly debated topic for some time - maybe some sence may come out of it, but I must admit I am pessimistic.
  23. Heaven forbid, members votes counting, so let's change the rules to suit "my beliefs".
  24. "These wacky opponents" "swayed by the crazies" Seems to be a consistent approach!
