  1. If the Iranians can do it why not Australia?
  2. This is an aircraft known as a Land Africa, allegedly a stolen design from an early ICP Savannah. Near the end the plane lands on the intersection and turns right angle to starboard within the intersection. Watch "Land Africa aircraft, short take-off and landing(Aterragem curta)" on YouTube
  3. It is a bit hard to throw your $5 into the honesty box when doing a touch and go.
  4. G'day Luffy, and . You have joined a superb site. Keep us posted!
  5. Hello FG1 to the site. Keep us up to date with what is happening in your neck of the woods! Eightyknots
  6. Those pictures are good. I think it looks better mounted on the strut. Being that close does it interfere with the air flow? Will the turbine spin just as quickly? Will the accuracy be the same?
  7. I have heard of someone who had serial input to Samsung Galaxy tablet using a dongle and a Bluetooth connection (for a non-aviation purpose). I would be pretty certain there must be something like this for the iPad as well.
  8. I had never heard of this until you wrote about this just now, Mark. I have had a bit of a look around and it looks pretty good. Here is a byDanJohnson interview with a Levil team member about the BOM product: This sort of thing has the very real potential to put expensive alternatives such as Dynon, Garmin etc. out of business. .
  9. A Samsung or Eyephone tablet connected to a sensor unit seems to be increasingly a viable alternative to Dynon. There more and more tablets that are Daylight Visible. That begs the question: Who makes a good sensor unit for tablet devices?
  10. They have been around for nearly a century and snowmobiles are a big part of their history: A Look In The Fascinating History Of Rotax Engines
  11. All good info here! Next question What fair price should one be paying for an 2,000-2,100 hour Rotax?
  12. I reckon a train like that would easily reach Eight Knots!
  13. Wonderful, Perry! I thought that you would be the most appropriate person to link us to the Youtube clip .
  14. At least steam gauges do not have these kinds of built-in obsolescence attributes ...or "internal countdown timer" as you say. For aircraft not flown all that frequently (but intending to be owned for many years) it may in fact be better to have the majority of instruments as steam gauges. The 1955 Piper Super Cub I did some training in a few years back probably still had all or most of the original gauges in place 55+ years after they were installed. I can't imagine the Dynon D3 will match that.
  15. I would have another go Rotax618!
  16. What is the red air pipe behind the dash?
  17. That is a real rip-off. I wonder why the RA-Aus will not change it after strengthening, to recognise reflect the new MTOW?
  18. Did anyone see the youtube clip of this aircraft flying?
  19. What would be a better set-up than the one described above, Nev?
  20. I would bend, No 1 and leave the weld as it is.
  21. Thanks for sharing this Good News story, FV. The picture that the QLD ambos supplied shows a tremendous amount of damage. But, the cabin looks largely intact which is an ideal outcome. I am still astounded that Danny was "walking and talking" after this crash. I am very thankful he survived this so well!
  22. Thanks Steve, I'll play it safe and adhere to the ICP design. I really liked the maroon demonstrator and it arguably numbers among the nicest examples of Savannah XLs around the world. It has plenty of power! Does Reg own an S now?
  23. It seems to me you would get the worst of Both worlds
  24. Hi Steve (or anyone else?), are there any photos or diagrams of this fin reinforcement mod? I will have a rudder extension on my Savannah and I would like to strengthen this part of the fin.
  25. I am sure the fuel injected Rotax will really move that Foxbat It looks lovely!
