  1. Hi Mark, I am in Carterton. There are three Savannah builders currently, and I intend to start my one soon (the kit has arrived but the shed took much longer to build than anticipated ). So, by the end of this month there should be four active builders in the Wairarapa. Perhaps we could all meet in one place, if that helps? Because of my work commitments that means either mid-to-late afternoons, most evenings or Saturday. When are you likely to be in the Wairarapa?
  2. That's good to know. I can't wait to start my build.
  3. If you're in the Wairarapa, It would be great to catch up. That's where I live.
  4. It should simply be as follows: 1. "Hush jets" with sound levels not exceeding x dB may operate 24 hours, around the clock. 2. All other (noisier) aircraft obey the current curfew hours. * Where x is sound level not likely to interrupt the sleep of 90% of surrounding residents ....bearing in mind that the locals have had free sound insulation retro-fitted to their homes over the last 10 years.
  5. It is interesting that the long wing version (with presumably the heaviest spar to cope with a larger bending moment) is also the least expensive Skyranger! * I managed to edit -or rather move- my wayward post above. Thanks, Garfly, for alerting me to this before the edit time limit expired.
  6. Welcome Hank. Tell us more about your interests :-)
  7. Well said. Sociopaths are the worst bosses: they'e permanently unreasonable and difficult to work with and work for.
  8. I am sure fitting it to a Savannah S is going to be more of a challenge.
  9. I wonder why PNG has such restrictions on home built planes? Zenith planes are used a fair bit for missionary work in Africa.
  10. I reckon that the capacitors will be even better than the diodes, but both will definitely work well.
  11. At Evans Head. So Q Fever isn't confined to Q ueensland?
  12. Do you happen to know how much each one weighs?
  13. The reality is that many people don't pay any donation. For instance, how many people support Ian and Corinna in providing this forum with a $50 First Class Membership, less than $1 per week?
  14. How did you go with this? Did you get a response??
  15. Are the chart holders the ICP option or did you make them up yourself?
  16. I know this is a decade old post but I am curious about northern and southern hemisphere compasses which leads to this question: When an operator flies an aircraft in both hemispheres (e.g. Southern Asia, Central America and Africa) do they have two compasses?
  17. I would consider contacting Ace Aviation in the district. I did some flight training with them (when the flight school was located at NZMS).
  18. I read that, thanks Bex: really interesting. Anyone reading that will have to agree that RockyDog2 almost turned his CH-701 into a Savannah!
  19. Hi Tom, I like the idea of a glove box. Is that the deepest glovebox possible or are you allowing some breathing space behind it to keep the instruments cool on either side?
  20. In readiness for my build, I have been reviewing some of the Savannah build threads in Recreational Flying. Much to Mark Kyle's credit -and all the fantastic contributors to this thread, this thread has been viewed 104,278 times! Wow!!
  21. I believe it is! And, for that reason, I am building an "ultralight" Savannah. Here in New Zealand, up-to-600-kg aircraft are known as "microlights" and that is what my Savannah will be registered as when it is complete.
