Don't listen to all these "Doubting Thomases" Solomon,. . . . . In my experience,. . . ANYTHING will fly, . . . if you make it go fast enough into the wind. . . . . Keep at it mate,. . . looks interesting.

Remenber what they said about Wilbur and Orville. . . . . . . . .

We have two Savannah aircraft on our site, one has the full length leading edge slats, the other has had them removed, and replaced with VGs. The owner with the Slatted model is a bit of a loner and doesn't talk to anyone, ( apart from me on the radio when he flies. . .) Seems to be an OK /sedate / Safe pilot though. . . . the second Sav owner has told me that it seems to fly a lot better with the VGs than it did in standard trim, slightly quicker in the cruise, with no appreciable difference in STOL behaviour. . . . . Can't comment any further on that as I personally have not flown either.

OK he has put VG's on it but did he change the leading edge ribs and skins to build it back out to the standard aerofoil shape or just hack off the slats and bang on the VG's?

Surely that should be Chris Heintz ...... since he created the 701 long before..

But he couldn't have done it without Max even though he happily takes the credit. He isn't the only one to take a slab of Max's credit, Max would have to be one of the most dudded aircraft designers in the history of aviation, people have lined up to rip off his designs. I just hope WAC don't turn out to be the next in the line.

Hi Rank. . . . . Asked Simon last night ( over a really nice curry ) he says that the kit with full length slats was originally ordered, but was altered when he heard that VG idea had been approved by PFA/LAA engineering. The wing components were modified pre-delivery, as you have mentioned. Simon reckons he gets around 10 / 12 mph more cruise speed than the figures originally advertised for the slatted version by the importers, with no real difference in stalling speed, ie around one or two mph higher. . . I cannot personally confirm this statement, as I mentioned before, . . . have not flown one.

If you have any other tech questions on the UK Savannah, I'll get you Simon's email addy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I assume these are archive pictures of your original Mark 1 (which we were advised suffered a total loss in a workshop fire). So........, once it's far enough advanced, how about you post some pics of your new revised design? We 'forumites' are all very interested in both your building and flying aviation progression. Good luck and keep at it. cheers Riley

Devalued post. Was three Bobs worth, now only worth one Bob.........

Price of Bobs must be equal to the price of gold...

If you want my two cents' worth, I think it's a lovely "British Racing Red" MG.

Yeah EN . Actually it started life as British Racing Green and was converted to Honda "Formula Red " some years ago . Bit of a chick magnet , but I think I have left my run too late ! 022_wink.gif.2137519eeebfc3acb3315da062b6b1c1.gif

What is it with MGs and old men? 003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif-Linda

I'm a Morgan man myself or a 1935 Rolls-Royce Phantom which which starred in the movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"

which during the movie changed into a "2010 Mercedes McLaren"
