  1. Be careful of brand new plastic since I had a lot of debris from the cans on first fill
  2. Since it's wifi you don't need it in the front of the plane.
  3. I think Mudge is starting to get strict about wearing the card. There have been notices sent around. I haven't had one for a few years but decided to since Wagga is a nice stop from here and I go to Mudgee a lot. From memory, not many fences surrounding the entire perimeter of many airports.
  4. Can you take your politics elsewhere please.
  5. Once you get past the few pages of terms and conditions, they are not encouraging the casual flyer. Also cost wise not encouraging.
  6. Could it be 2 engines per aircraft and spare engines?
  7. http://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/probe-of-777-engines-explosive-failure-pinpoints-its-origin/
  8. I think it's a money thing. How can I increase the value of my place, buy cheap, get rid of the airport and goal achieved....
  9. If you have a PC I guess PocketFMS. That's what I used to always use in Parallels on my Mac. I just checked the website, looks like they call it EasyVFR now. I don't use it anymore, just the data files for my skyview.
  10. Circuits can be a challenge since there are some neighbours who complain a lot. Usually have to slip it in. I'm pulling power earlier in the circuit to get in these days. The J230 doesn't want to land some times. Turning base you really have to make sure you are coordinated. As someone else said, not hard to get a cross wind and with all the trees and hangers, fun times.
  11. Which is why it would be good to create a standard so you can see Avplan users as well.
  12. Did I read correctly that OzRunways and Avplan show other traffic from the software? It would be good if they could come up with a standard so they can see each others traffic for better situational awareness.
  13. http://www.samsonmotorworks.com I would like this one please.
  14. I emailed them as well, can't believe they won't do a PDF version. They could easily have a mailing list to tell people when it's been updated. I received my hard copy but now that will be outdated when they decide to update the online version. Hope they change their mind. Maybe if enough people email them.
  15. I would imagine a GA lane but would have to be 1000ft AGL which doesn't leave much room for jets on approach unlike Victor1 which is 500ft. Here's hoping. It will be ages before the first plane flies.
  16. If you did think of Camden you can only do it out of hours. 8am-6pm is out of bounds from memory (Class D). Easy to do during summer but winter it's too dark.
  17. Sorry David, I understand what you're saying but this was a mistake. Now your saying don't touch what you don't know, strange, I've picked up mistakes from LAME's and Level 2's. That's why I always check what has been done after a service before I fly. What I did was a pure mistake and can happen. As for "Head in the Clouds", I don't think age has to do with that, photos are a wonderful way of auditing the process and getting it back together again.
  18. Yep. I think that's on my list.
  19. Almost embarrassing writing this but I hope nobody else does it. I took the battery home to give it a good charge and put it back in on Saturday, I missed one cable, probably a critical cable, the earth for the starter. I could see the starter light stuck on and there prop didn't turn. Smoke started pouring out of the engine bay and of course all the switches I flicked off. No change, still heaps of smoke. I grabbed the fire extinguisher and thought I crossed a wire so my first aim was to disconnect the battery. Succeeded in disconnecting the earth cables. What a mess. After talking to my mechanic, he has seen this happen before, the positive somehow jumps, not sure how and it looks like it used the throttle cable as the earth. The throttle sheath melted and the metal also melted the side of the battery. A solution is to cable tie the cables so none of them can't drop out of sight. Been flying for 9 years and haven't done anything like this before. Please take note.
  20. Actually the built in GPS does use quite a bit of power. I have that one for the 4g but went with a separate GPS via bluetooth. It also supports glonass gps. http://gps.dualav.com/explore-by-product/xgps160/
  21. I really like the size of the mini which is what I have and is due for an update. The last updates Apple did was to the larger one, they didn't do much to the mini. There was a review of the new mini yesterday and while it didn't receive many updates, it is still a good machine. The larger one has better antiglare which I wonder what that's like in the plane but I have a mount on my dash and found a visor on eBay to keep the sunlight off for my mini. That works really well. Which one would I get, I prefer the mini but like the advances they did with the Air2. Another words I haven't made up my mind yet.
  22. Can you put a link in please. Is this doable under LSA?
  23. Sorry but I had to do exactly that.
  24. I use NAIPS but when I get up in the morning I log in to http://www.bom.gov.au/aviation/weather-packages/ to get a quick picture of what's happening.
  25. I remember Rod Stiff at a couple of Natflys ago saying why do you need brakes. Maybe the brakes should have been another thread. Sorry about that.
