  1. And forgot to mention, Pump ON should be one of the Downwind pre landing checks.
  2. Turn off at top of climb, wings level, and be alert for rough running and/ or a drop in fuel pressure. Also keep aux pump on during critical stages of flight or extended climbs. There is no harm to the engine in having the aux pump on.
  3. Is a Metal Jerrycan safer than a Plastic one for refuelling? Also, i see the Auto Supply shops sell a Syphon with an "anti static" plastic hose that they claim reduces the possibility of static electricity and is a safer option than using a funnel. And what about "grounding" when refuelling from a Jerrycan on a high wing aircraft using the Syphon method. Comments appreciated, thanks.
  4. Mate I was shattered when someone said they do nothing for performance!!.......but still good to look at!
  5. And they look FANTASTIC !!!!
  6. Mate can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean the Bar readings on the MGL Bounce around and where in the Panel is the Instrument mounted. I recently had the MGL TC-3 CHT/EGT fitted to my Jab on the RH upper panel with no issues so far.
  7. Or Garmin Pilot 111. I have an old one not being used. If anyone wants it, $200 with Intruction Manual etc. PM me if interested.
  8. Wayne, PZW has been re birthed and is now in regular daily use at Clamback and Hennessy flying school at Bankstown Airport in Sydney. Its a fully IFR Warrior and very nice to fly! Thanks for the history.
  9. I bought a double USB Port Cig lighter adapter from Sportys Pilot shop for about $20 however ive found i get static through thr Radio while its charging. It has 2x 2.4 Amp USB slots but im disappointed with the interference. So I went to Jayco Electronics and bought a Battery Pack which sits in the side pocket of the Jab and charges the Ipad no problem. It will maintain 100percent charged for a long time
  10. Keith are you sure of your Model type? Ive never heard of a Garmin 111.
  11. I use the DUAL XGPS150 Remote Receiver on the dash, and have never had a problem with dropouts. If you google this gadget it gives you all the info and at approx USD $100 it's good value.
  12. N Never heard of this, but you can't go wrong using Oil recommended by the Engine Msnufacturer.

  19. Guys, if anyone has any questions or doubts about the usability of iPads in the Cockpit, have a look at the Sportys Pilot Shop Website which devotes a whole section to mounting options, differences in iPad types, how to set up the iPad pre flight so that you don't forget any important pre settings etc etc. They also explain very clearly how to use accessories like the Dual 150 GPS devices.

    J160 experience?

Frank, my J170 was idling when hot at a shade over 1000 and I found I was floating too much. I've had the idle set back to about 900 which has made in my opinion, a difference to the float experience. I've also found I need to fully close the throttle a little earlier in the flare!
  21. Bob thats a great set-up. I have exactly the same in my Jab170 except the Ipad Mini is on the RH side and the 296 on the left. I found even the Mini too much "in my face" on the LH side but the 296 is small enough to be out of the way!
  22. My thoughts exactly!
