  1. Sportys Pilot shop have a large section online of many mounting options and excellent tips for flying with iPads. Well worth a read!
  2. My Mini is perfect for the Jabiru and 16gb is more than enough for what I need. The RAM Suction cup mount works well and can be mounted according to preference. I found my old Ipad2 far to big for the small cockpit
  3. I've recently seen some videos and read Reviews about the Lightspeed Tango Wireless Headset. They Retail for USD $800. If you google the Headset there are a number of Reviews and some videos.
  4. That's correct and also what I was told both verbally and in writing by RAA Ops
  5. But dont you only need it at A SC Airport if you want to access the security section of that Airport? Example, Port Macquarie which has a gate leading to the Flight School section, and another part where you need the ASIC to access the Terminal building from Airside.
  6. I apply FULL Carb heat as power is reduced just before turning base, and close it on final in case of a go around.
  7. Ive never been refused but sometimes you will get extended holding at Long Reef depending on Controller workload and traffic. Make sure your Radio and Transponder are in good order as well.
  8. Just wanted to get users experience on loading and navigating a plan. Recently i loaded a plan departing Bankstown with various waypoints to the north. I loaded Bankstown as the first waypoint (departure point) and activated the plan while taxiing at Bankstown, and after tkof, the GPS did not cycle to give info on the next waypoint, it just kept giving info on Bankstown as the next waypoint. I realise the GOTO function would rectify this, but am asking if the first waypoint AFTER departure should be the first one loaded at the planning stage? Comments appreciated thanks.
  9. me too
  10. plus groundspeed readout
  11. And correct, I dont need WIFI or G meter
  12. The D1 was discontinued by Dynon last April, and they now only produce the D2. With the D2, I now get track guidance, Attitude, back up Altitude, and back up rate of climb/descent indications. For USD $995 I believe its worthwhile.
  13. M My Jab did not come with any attitude indication or groundspeed readout so rather than reconfigure the whole Panel to fit the D100 I decided to get the D2 portable which I can secure anywhere with the supplied suction cup assembly. I also had a look at a few Video reviews of the D2 and overall I am happy with the purchase. I think the G Meter screen is unecessary and will never use that. Seems to be working well now!
  14. Andy, yes you are correct. must have been another issue but seems to work fine now.
  15. Used remote antenna today and worked fine! Looks like problem related to the Units internal antenna being shielded by the overhead cockpit material.
  16. Hi all I recently purchased this, and today it didn't display any info and the message seemed to stick on the acquiring satellites page. The box had a good view of the sky on the dash of my Jabiru. Has anyone else experienced issue? The first time I turned it on out of the box it had a display within 60 seconds but no luck today in fight. It shouldn't need the external antenna where it was mounted and all the advertising I've read mentions this fact. Thanks everybody.
  17. I should have mentioned mine is a Factory build LSA, not sure about other types.
  18. Jabiru have told me they need drawings of the proposed installation and details of who is doing the work. They then need to approve it. I have the MGL Gauge and probes ready to go into my Jab but decided to have Jabiru do the work to save any hassle!
  19. Thanks for that. MGL supplied me with all the Cabling and Probes, so hopefully it should do the job. The Panel is the usual Jabiru type material, but I will leave the hole cutting to an expert, unfortunately my handyman skills leave a lot to be desired!! but appreciate your comments.
  20. Oscar, yep, I have the 170D. Thanks for the info, yes ive been told that I need Jabiru approval as well.
  21. Thanks for that. Ive now purchased the Instrument and appropriate Probes from the MGL Aust Agent. Would you (or anybody) be able to recommend a Sydney based organisation with experience in this kind of work that could install it for me? Unfortunately this involves cutting an instrument hole in spare space on the RH side of the Panel. Appreciate any advice re installation. Roscoe
  22. Would appreciate feedback on User experiences with this instrument.( The TC-3 model) Looking at installing in my J 170 Jabiru Thanks a lot.
  23. And lets hope this is the new beginning for events like this that were so popular years ago. Congrats to the organisers
