  1. Nice Mike, the strip at Marion seems a bit rough? or was that just the way it looked on the video. David
  2. I have no problem with the current way the magazine works, I can see that the huge loss in the production costs of the magazine were not sustainable and something needed to be done to rein in the expenses and hence we have what we now, as I said I have no issues with the digital and print version, I love seeing my magazine every month and it sits on my coffee table for weeks and every time I sit down for a coffee I have another look through it until I have had enough and it goes down to the flying school coffee table. The issues that I have is strictly from an advertisers point of view and the value for money that I would get if I advertised, pulling it out of newsagents was IMO the worst thing they could have done it reduces the people that will see my ad which reduces the possible amount of leads that I would derive from my ad, my business as such is not directly related to aviation so I need not only people like us to buy and look at my ad but other people from all walks of life, farmers, panelbeaters, etc etc and now IMO I don't get that with it only being sent to members and not being presented at the newsagents, so, as I said before, I would love to support our magazine but I need to balance how much I spend for the business or leads that I get from this advertising, so I am still assessing the deal... David
  3. I was wondering why I hadn't seen or heard you around Geoff, good to see your ok mate, as they say you can fix the plane. Well done putting your story up here for all of us to read and learn by and we all hope to see you soon back up in the air. If your over Redcliffe way and you need a flying fix while your getting yours fixed, give me a call you can come for a fly with me in the Sportstar anytime... David
  4. I just bought the subscription for the magazine and I am happy with that but I have noticed the drop in advertisers. Being a business owner I voiced my concern regarding advertisers in the magazine getting their moneys worth but as I remember people didn't think it was an issue, I can tell you at once stage I was considering advertising in our magazine but once it was taken out of the newsagency's I decided to wait and see how it all went before committing my hard earned and advertising in the magazine, I am still thinking about it !!!! David
  5. Well done Rich...congrats.. yes and I do like your videos mainly because they are uncut and true and no crazy music... David
  6. Hi Mick, Yes I won't replace my window vents while my Sportstar is being cross hired, some people are just so heavy handed even when I put on signage on how to use the window vents... David
  7. I would say no...it is a requirement to have a valid drivers license, so I would say if you loose it for any reason you loose your RAAus certificate to fly as well.. David
  8. When I went to pick up my Sportstar with Mahl from Warnambool we did over 800 miles in 1 day and it took about 11hrs including 2 stops, one at Griffith and one at Moree, so 2 pee stops only all up...but we did go down and buy some small pillows to go under our backsides and my thanks to Mahl for suggesting that we do, it was a great trip. David
  9. Great video Doug, what a wonderful trip, when you look at the video you realize how big our country is, what was your average cruise speed in the Tecnam? David
  10. Hi Graham, Wonderful photo's, so who won this year? I think Scott won it last year? David

  19. I don't think the RV7 will make it into RAAus as the stall speed is 51kts which I believe is to high, I think the only RV that would make both ends is the RV12...correct me if I am wrong. David
  20. HI Tony, Yes looks like it will be ok, my test is at 2pm tomorrow, I think it will be good. David
  21. Hi Tony, Once I get my RPC tomorrow (being positive) I will get straight into XC... to get to this point it has taken me a long time because of work and life in general and now that I own my plane I just want to get on with it, I have on 2 hours left to do before I can get me PAX endorsement so I will knock them off pretty quickly, which will be great but first things first...certificate tomorrow. David
  22. Well I have rebooked and I think I have some fair weather tomorrow but I am finally going on my certificate fight test with the CFI tomorrow...just need to get it done.. David
  23. Good luck Tony I am sure you will find it fun, I just received the same XC manual in the mail yesterday so I will be staring mine very soon as well....you never know mate we may cross paths out there somewhere? David
  24. Hi Guys, I can say that you do need to have regular lessons, once a week if possible, I just had 3 weeks off from flying, weather and having to work on the weekend and a sick CFI, I went up with my instructor for a pre certificate flight on Friday and I can tell you the only thing that I think I did ok was my landings and my stalls but my radio calls were absolutely terrible and I put it all down to lack of flying, it seems time in the air practicing all that I have learnt is the ticket. Everyone has an ordinary day RJW so don't be down on yourself just enjoy the time, it will all click into place, and it did seem like you had a rough day with turbulence, the next time you go out it will be smooth and you will nail it. David
