  1. Great video Parkway, you can't beat the views from a Sporty with their all glass canopy, one of the best of the LSA aircraft...I love the whale watching up here in mine...well done on the video mate.. David
  2. Yes we did have some heavy storms last Sunday night maybe it was still a bit wet down that end of 05... David
  3. Hard to imagine what's happened here, great flying day today, I hope they all end up ok.. David
  4. The last 50 hrly I had done I was charged around the $325.00 which was basically plugs / oil / air filter clean and re-oil and check around the engine hoses etc and my last100 hrly which is not only the engine as above but a airframe inspection / brakes etc as well cost me around the $1300 ...I hope that helps. David
  5. Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I am not rich by any means...I own a plane :whistling:but $20 for my membership and $25 per year for my aircraft rego is not a lot of money, if the board is doing the job and trying to get us back in the black, I say let's trust that they are doing the right thing on our behalf... David
  7. That's a good idea..I wonder how many we could get from the forum to come in for a snag or 2... David
  8. Yes they have Tony, looks very nice, I have sat there a few times on a Saturday afternoon when I wasn't flying watching the comings and goings... David
  9. Hi Robert, Welcome to the forum, where you will be amazed and informed about all manner of things....you just need to ask the question... I am from Caboolture as well, so not to far from beautiful Woodford... We need to have a meet up one day, we would have a pretty big bunch from around our area.. David
  10. I think it would be a great adventure for an older pilot and if someone decided to do this with maps only, like they did in the old days, you could show the youngers how it was done..I hope someone takes up the challenge. David
  11. Well Yenn, I have done some searches on the internet and I have not found anyone listed as "the oldest pilot to circumnavigate Australia" so there seems to be an opening in the Guinness Book of records if you wanted to attempt it....and if you did it with no electronic aids only maps I reckon you may hold this record for a long time... David
  12. Loved the video Phil, thankyou, especially the Doctor being chased by the dalek...looked like a very nice variety of everything...thanks again mate for putting it up... David
  13. Yes you did well Tony and you got yourself and the plane down safely.... :) David
  14. Could you imagine parking this at Bunnings or outside Coles on a Saturday morning and what if someone bangs their door into it would it be down to the LAME for a inspection before you fly it again? Yea right...first you need to win the lotto... David
  15. Fly Now Redclifffe does not have the CT anymore it was sold by the owner... David
  16. Well done Rich and congrats...but you haven't finished yet mate...onto your navs now, the final step in your training...I have enjoyed watching your videos and also well done to Bruce...he is a very good instructor from what I have seen in your videos and very patient which goes very well for instructors...anyway good luck on for the rest of your training and I hope you can continue to post some videos of your cross country training aventures once you get started... David..
  17. Sportstar Plus....24-8397..good news the pilot got out ok looking at the trees he went into...I would say she is a write off for sure... David
  18. I think you guys are missing the point, I think we all know that most of the time you guys come to the field alone to rig up and then go flying, I think Mike is right, rig your aircraft but walk away and have a coffee for 15 min and come back and check it again, I would have a written check list to go through just to make sure everything has been hooked up before you start rolling..It's not about big brother telling what to do it is to remind pilots that ultimately you are responsible for you own safety and no matter how well you know your aircraft you can still miss doing a critical task which can kill you..we all want is to come back safely home each day. David
  19. Hi All, I have just fitted another engine in the Sporty and I found this vibration around 3000 rpm when coming back to idle, you don't seem to feel it as you take off and all the other the other rev rages it is smooth, it is just around the 3000 rpm, the old engine never had this vibration that I have now which seems so strange to me, same prop. Dieter the L2 has checked everything else and now it seems to be this balance issue, so to eliminate this and hopefully fix it who is the best person to get this prop balance done and how much does it cost approx? David
  20. No I like the tilting canopy Mike because I like the full view out of the canopy without the frame like the Sporty .....someone told me the other day that the RV9 is just a Sporty on steroids... David
  21. Yes the RV9 and 9a and RV12 would fit under the 750kg and 45kt stall..so I would be happy there...This one would do me... David
  22. Congratulations on both you on securing your first aircraft, I know how excited I was when I got my sporty back to Redcliffe after a nearly 900 nm trip....all the guys in the hangar stir me up all the time..."David you cleaning that plane again" yes I say..they laugh but I love doing it, maybe that me I just like her clean and looking good...I am sure both you guys will be that same...So enjoy and be safe maybe one day we can get together.. Tony are you going to Clifton this Sunday? maybe we will see each other there if you are going... David
  23. Why if we increase the MTOW to 750kg can't the stall speed be increased a little as well, maybe 50kts..I think it would be logical to go with the weight increase. David
  24. I think moving to a higher MTOW than for argument sake of 750kg will certainly help the older GA pilots to keep flying once their health turns bad and they can't get a class 2 medical..so what do you think CASA would do then to maintain safety? I would suggest that having a current driving licence would go out the door and a some sort of medical would be required to fly RAAus....so the people that are advocating going for more than around the 750kg should be careful for what they wish for...it may be the start of outing all the old GA and RAAus pilots out of flying for good... I also agree with Nick that we must look forward to the day when these older pilots retire, we need to keep out sport fresh and interesting and affordable for young people otherwise our sport will wither and die...a bit like GA.... David
  25. That is unless they lift the stall speed a little as well? Who knows what we will get, if anything, it has taken forever and still going... David
