  1. Sure ia an awesome place to live if Aviation is your thing, Get regular sightings of F18s & C117s overflying Boonah/ Kalbar heading to Amberly, Not to mention the outstanding scenery to fly around. Cheers
  2. Damn, Broken wing no good for flying m8, hope it mends well and soon for you
  3. Yeh its a great story, You should check out Brian Shul,s motivational talk he did at a research facility, He is a great example of what someone can accomplish when others say it cant be done.
  4. Well 3 circuits with a Instructor then for the first time since March 4th 1988 sent soaring into the skys around Boonah for 3 circuits all on my lonesome, Maybe not the same nervous excitement as the first solo back in Oct 1985 but it was awesome to be back in total control. Little bit more to do then the GA to Ra-Aus conversion will be complete. Cheers
  5. Welcome aboard Wes. cheers
  6. Yeh thought as much, just checkin. Cheers
  7. Hey whitey reason for caution m8?
  8. Sad news indeed, Condolences to all involved.
  9. Sit back & enjoy & try not to bust a jaw from grinning when he says the magic words" Your Aircraft", Work out if it is something you would like to pursue, If yes then ask Instructor whats involved next. Have fun M8.
  10. Enjoyed the event, Worth the drive down for sure. Weather could of been better but it was good for the 2 days we attended.(Thur & Sat). The 6 foot fence was a bit of overkill, If It was there to keep public hands away from the Fly-in Aircraft & Warbirds then simple up close baracades & 1 or 2 attendants would of done for the Warbirds. As to the Fly-in birds why not give owners the choice of giving the public access to view up close by giving those owners willing to do so Aircraft parking close to the main display areas then becoming part of the show. Personally I would of liked to of seen a lot more involvment/displays of Manufacturers who,s Aircraft are avaliable in kit form, partialy assembled wings or rudders, just a taste to maybe spark some interest in building. $35 for 3 day ticket is good value but $30 entry for the Saturday was too much, Especially if trying to get the locals who may not be aviation enthusiasts to attend. Great event but good to see it even greater next time. Was great to meet and chat with some forum members, Old Koreelah, Storchy Neil, David2ayo And SDQDI, Enjoyed the chat guys & look forward to doing it again at future events
  11. Very bad news, Condolences to all involved.
  12. Zoo was good, Showers and misty rain most of day which I dont mind, Not many there so no one getting in the way. We caught one of the Keepers talks at the African Lion section(Very informative), Great zoo to attend, Cool being able to drive between sections considering the weather.
  13. Quiet 1st day at Narromine, Decent wind blowing but stiil some light birds coming in, small crowds but it is still a working day for many. Not all exhibits set up yet but the ones with all the cool tech gadgets there. Nice bunch of winged toys on display, Tecnam, Sling, Bushcat and a few others. We left around 1.00. Off to the Zoo tomorrow then back for the full day on Saturday.
  14. Very sad news for all, Condolences to all involved.
  15. Lol yeh I thought the same from his description.
  16. Always sad to lose a fellow aviator, Condolences to the pilots family & friends. Good effort Aldo.
  17. Deepest sympathys to both deceased familys & friends, very sad indeed.
  18. Unlucky, If the tree hadn,t of taken the landing gear off it would of nearly been a 3 pointer.
  19. We started looking about 4 months ago and Narromine was all booked out then, We booked in at Dubbo so all good. Looking forward to it.
  20. Accommodation booked, The Wife & Me will be there.
  21. Geoff I fully understand some not having any desire to ever spin an Aircraft either on purpose or inadvertantly but as is always the case when the Human element is involved mistakes can happen. With the correct training and good airmanship no one should ever accidently get into a spin but as we all know mistakes can & will always happen. My concern is that someone who has never been in a Spin and then Accidently gets into a inadvertant spln situation and finds the nose pointing at the ground will do what most would do in panic and haul back on the stick which could be fatal. Back in 86 I did a type rating for the Victor Airtourer & one of the requirements was compulsory 2 turn spin recoveries, After the Instructor did the first one and my brain recovered from a state of utter confusion/fear/relief I was on the verge of saying take me home please when I heard the crazy words of now YOU do one. Well I did(Stupid male ego wouldnt let me say I wanna go home LOL) & now that crazy stuff amuses no end. Wether spin training should be made compulsory or not I dont know but to me I see benefits in case the worst happens. My 2 cents.Cheers
  22. Heres hoping they both come through it ok.
