If it was registered group G then it cannot be flown because that requires an endorsement, nothing in place yet for that. The question I have is why anyone would change from VH reg to group G anyway. A satisfactory flight review will get you an RPL.🤔

I am guessing it would be restricted to 600kg at the moment. I thought that was against the rules.

Cowra aeroclub has Brumby 610 for $130 wet, instructor is $70. A commercial operator https://www.easternairservices.com.au/hire-rates

Old station is 601nm from my strip, not happening in a thruster.😂 Closer to home there is an RAAus flyin planned for Parkes NSW on April 1-3 2022, we should get some Thrusters to that one.

The Cavalier called turning base after the cirrus called established visual on final. Yes the Cavalier may have had the right of way however just by extending down wind a bit those TWO aircraft could have both landed quickly leaving the circuit free for the next customer. The cirrus was on a long final because it had done an instrument let down thru cloud. Recently I flew to mudgee under the cloud, gave my 10 mile inbound then heard a Kingair on a straight in instrument approach broadcast. I could have beat him by 1-2 minutes doing the circuit but replied that I would hold clear until he landed. It is the right thing to do and less stressful for all, he was thankful.

I will vote for the 20-160 given your final approach speed will be around 43.

This seems cheap until you add a control head $1500, cables plus installation. The online prices for transponders is never a complete system price. Transponder, encoder, gps source, cables, antennas plus installation is all required. A simple all in one panel mounted box would be nice for simple aircraft.

It will be maybe six months before our group is all going. We are all on farms with strips so have good options for a gathering. In '92 I flew by myself from Nyngan in central NSW to Torquay on the coast south of Geelong in one long day, about 400nm. Four avgas fuel stops. Not sure I would want to do that now but it can be done. Holbrook could be an option, good strips, the home of the first AUF flyin which we attended with two Thrusters from Nyngan. It also has an interesting collection of early ultralights.

Cessna have that type of switch, it still requires one to look while resetting, the flaps then travel to that position. Unless your first name is Dan.

Just for education I think the tailbeacon is ADS-B out only. The IN bit is what we pilots need in our aircraft for traffic awareness.

Nice looking strip Mike. I think my RV6a would have no trouble with it. When is the rec flyers flyin? 😎

Kevin the SkyEcho2 for all intents and purposes is an ADS-B transponder just that it only has low power and only sqawks 1200. It transmits call sign, GPS position and altitude of the aircraft just like a proper ADS-B transponder. The SkyEcho2 also has the important IN bit which is why I will be keeping mine even if I fit a mode S or ADS-B transponder, wifi connected to a tablet allows equipped traffic to be seen. I don't think air services will be swamped by recreational aircraft, there are a lot that don't fly much. There would be a way to only show the aircraft they are controlling on their display if necessary. ADS-B transponders work aircraft to aircraft without the need for any ground station for pilot traffic awareness. This is the best bit. Bring it on.

Helped a young friend rescue this shed dweller yesterday. Simply by talking about my love of Thrusters and taking people that are interested for a fly we have caused 7 such unregistered machines to be on the path to airworthiness and all will be registered again. Just doing my bit for grass roots recreational flying.

I like the defined minimum manoeuvring airspeed idea. DMMS is 1.4 times stall speed, it is also best climb and best glide for most light aircraft. If we dont fly our aircraft below this speed it will not get upset unless we are intentionally doing something stupid. Light aircraft rarely depart controlled flight in cruise, it nearly always happens at a height at which a recovery is not possible. Fly the aircraft at the correct speeds at all times and live a long life. There has been two departure stalls involving RAAus aircraft in the last two weeks, both aircraft badly damaged but only luck prevented serious injuries or death.

Skyranger Nynja cruise speed and WOT at 5,500 rpm.

Probably only when following roads😉 -
If the airframe and skins check out ok and I think they will, this one will be going to a very good home in the local area. Another one saved.

I would agree with factoring a new gen4 engine plus all the installation costs into the deal. It may not even be possible to rebuild the existing engine. Consider the total cost and what the realistic resale value will then be.

LH Aviation LH-10 Ellipse
Thruster88 commented on red750's aircraft in General Aviation (single engine)
100knots @7lph or 175knots @18lph. This is less than half the fuel flow of similar sized aircraft at these speeds. Magic or bullshit? -
Maybe, the property owner will make enquiries

Whent for a nice fly in the RV yesterday and found another thruster that needs a good home....... not sure what the big hole is about🤔.

Need advice and opinions on this... slow airspeed
Thruster88 replied to NT5224's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
For aircraft that have an alternate static source (usually inside the cabin) the airspeed indication is usually only a few knots different. -

When flying a new type or just to check the airspeed indicator in my machines I stall and note the indicated airspeed. Indicated stall speed never changes for a given configuration and weight for a training type stall. Stall speed would not change more than a few knots even if the ailerons were both slightly dropped. If the aircraft now stalls at a lower than standard indicated airspeed there is most likely a leak in the pitot line. With a helper to watch the ASI blow gently into the pitot tube and block with your tongue at say 80knots, it should hold there. -
Aeroshell 41 is mineral oil. 31 is $ynthetic😂

The MIL PRF 5606 is one of the approved standards for the grove system so aeroshell 41 is ok. It is what we use at work for cessna piper beech brakes.
