FlyingVizsla
I know the plane and pilot. He's out of hospital. Very experienced, always practicing forced landings and circuits etc. I'll let him tell the story. 3

kgwilson
It seems odd that the RH wing has sheared right off at the root and disappeared, well it isn't in the photo. No cowl either unless it didn't have one.
facthunter
Doesn't have a cowl. The wing won't be far away. There'd be a lot more damage if it was. Nev
pmccarthy
There are a lot of posts on the web about Rotec engine problems. As an Aussie I prefer not to believe many of them.

It has a cowl but it looks like he can can also fly without it. ef523b_b40a8ea790994a8da12f5ee52b5839f2_mv2_d_2048_1365_s_2.webp ef523b_f3ad7b4d71e94f8ca4623b2bfedded4a_mv2.webp

Teckair
Was a beautiful aircraft but if you end up upside down in a paddock not good can't get out. Pilot has done well I think.

Methusala
I think that he will find difficulty in obtaining parts for the engine. Must need a full strip and re-build with a smashed prop.
kgwilson
There are photos of it flying with and without the cowl on the Rotec website. The wing is all timber construction with ply/glass D-box & fabric to the rear of the main spar. Beautifully constructed. The wings attach to the root section 1 panel out from the fuselage so it is the centre cantilevered spars that broke off.
